I think that's a bet, for those with cashout, that like to use it.

33/1, probably shorter before he actually runs......

Sir Gerhard needs shorter to me than Kilcruit but market vibes and word around has Ballymore being mentioned. I can’t see Willie having the two of them against each other.

If any of Hubrisko, Dysart Dynamo, State Man or and of his other novices come out and look amazing at 2 miles, I can see Sir Gerhard and Kilcruit being shuffled up in distance.

It’s not like the AB is a bad race at all. Willie sent Monkfish who then won the RSA then would have gone on this season to be one of the favourites for the GC. And Minella Indo bolted up in this the other year and has won the GC since. Definetly I can see Henry looking at this race with his future GC horses, and I believe Willie thinks the same. And I believe that all at the Mullins yard this that Kilcruit can be a GC horse one day.

It works out well for Willie as he can have a really strong hand in all three novice’s (4 if you count the mares).

I think this year in this division is going to be the hardest yet to figure out which of Willies horses goes where with so many at his disposal.

In the end if Kilcruit does come here, it could be the best AB ever with the top three Irish yards having really great contenders in Kilcruit, Classic Getaway, JWM and Hollow Games.
Then chuck in Stage Star for Nicholls and Letsbeclearaboutit for Cromwell. Nicky has numberous good novices this season (according to him) he’ll have something to put in here.

It could be an Albert Bartlett for the ages!
Id think things would need to go wrong for kilcruit to end up here

In which case you'd get a bigger price than he is now

        • I’d expect Willie to have Ramillies for this race as the season goes on, was outpaced by the best bumper horses last season and needs a trip.

im already on Hollow Games and JWM so don’t want to back this one just yet!

          • Does anyone know....how many horses that competed in G1 bumpers the previous ended up winning an Albert Bartlett?

            • ….Guily Billy due to run tomorrow, currently a best priced 25-1 for this. Similar for Ballymore, except for PP/BFSB who go a stand-out 40-1 Ballymore.

Given those prices the 22-1 a/r with Hills boost seems reasonable (14-1 Sky), albeit no cash-out.

Do you know the answer? I would guess none in recent times! Interesting when you think about it.

Not to hand, the profile at one point was a horse with plenty of runs... but that was a few years back.

It's mainly highlighting that this time of year, naturally, we look at horses we know from bumpers that are going hurdling, when potentially it may be that the more likely types aren't ones that we saw in higher profile bumbers at all.

I know it's been done on here before, so someone will have it to hand hopefully

Does anyone else still feel like the Year 2000 was really recent. I saw 2006 then and thought, that isn't too long ago, before my brain realised it's 15 years ago. 15 years prior to that would be 1991

The Cheltenham Bumper is probably not going to have many at all as the winners of that are likely to be classier and run over shorter the next season (as a general sweeping point).

Still, probably true of most of the G1 bumpers I'd imagine.

Didn’t win it but Briar Hill won the bumper and went off favourite for the AB when he fell in the race for Willie

Yeah that's a good one, he was one that was always talked of as a stayer even before the bumper.

Then again, so was Appreciate It

Without checking I'm fairly sure the answer is none.

Into 16s now with 365 and most firms 12s & 10s - he's probably one good debut outing away from single figures all round.

                              • Witchita Lineman the only one in the third edition of the race in 2007. So one in eighteen renewals.

                                Edit. Just seen Darlojim's response.
