Personally I think he'll end up in the Ballymore, the same as Bollinger, as Henry's best Novice. I do have him covered for both though as at this point before he's even run, no one knows where he'll end up. It's a dangerous game any of us pinning our hopes on a Novice who's not jumped a twig yet.
Ballymore is always a possibility but Minella Indo started over 2m4 so I don't think it's a deal breaker for Potatoes

    • these bartlett nags rarely start off at 2m6+ It just seems like most trainers mind them..hollow games is one that certainly looks nailed on though i dont see them dropping him now he certainly wants a trip, him and gerri colombe in the ballymore is a lovely each way double in my opinion..as for journey with me i beleive he would go here but saying that what does de brom have in his arsenal for the ballymore? Nothing jumps out at me

Guily Billy starting out over 2 1/2 according to his at the races stable tour. Grand Jury another possibility.

Personally, I don’t think it matters though. HDB has always tended to run his horses at the distance they are more likely to excel at.

No one's saying it's a deal breaker at all. He could quite easily go Albert but.......

Guily Billy started off a week ago over 2 miles - and got turned over at 3/1 on!

              • Eric bloodaxe popped up today, looks like he may end up here perhaps, interesting to hear how hard it is to get him fit, maybe he wasnt 100% when he was 4th behind kilcruit/ Sir G at Punchestown after such a long lay off.

Brendan Powell, representing trainer O'Brien, later said “he still looks big and I’m sure there is a lot to work on still. He’s a hard horse to get fit.

“Rachael said he was always in control. He had a blow but he was always going to win. She said he gives you a proper feel.

“She said he jumped unbelievable for a horse having his first run over hurdles. He’d done a lot of schooling last year.

“He’s not slow but I’d say two and a half miles is his minimum and he wouldn’t worry about softer ground. That drop of rain came right for him today.”
                25s still up on unibet...

I definitely recall paddock comments at the time of him looking like he needed a run, to put it politely. It was a good run that day in the circumstances. Definitely one to keen an open mind on.

                  • I’ve just backed Ginto AP for the Ballymore & Bartlett before he makes his seasonal debut which he’s odds on to do. Not sure if he’s any good given the rumours of Elliot inflating his price at the sale but he could be brilliant or like many of the seasonal novice hurdlers a bit disappointing

                    • Kevin Blake said bloodaxe had multiple niggly injuries, nothing serious and was nowhere near fit for that run. He flagged him as one he expects to have a good season also.

What are the rumours about Elliott inflating his price at the sales?

Ideal type for when the festival goes five days and they bring in the six miler !

                            • Ginto was good enough on debut but let's be honest, he has beat absolutely nothing. Be interesting to see him up against stronger opposition next time and didn't like how he was jumping out to his right at every hurdle. Maybe that will be something that can be ironed out but I'd be worried personally if he did that going LH again next time.

                              • Gordon Elliott on Ginto at Navan Racecourse:
“Jack (Kennedy) said it was like a piece of work for him, he wasn't doing a stroke going around there on his own. It's job done. He's gotten very strong, he's a big bull, and he needs to get out, get a bit of work, and get going.”
