From about 6 weeks out, so last week, I keep an eye on the exchanges on a fairly constant basis, for my own financial benefit, as I don't want to be missing out any noticeable changes and not have the chance to react. I know some people are not quite as keen as me, or have the time to do it, so will note these moves, but obviously none of them should be considered advice as to what they should do with their own bets.

FWIW I'm not overly worried by the Fil Dor drift, just yet, but thought it worth noting.

Sound strategy, as markets mature on the exchange it creates an opportunity for us to hedge.
Nothing wrong with backing a horse at a big price a long way out and laying that horse at shorter for your stake back leaving a nice free bet running…

      • Fil Dor price is just reflecting the fact it was put in it's place last time out isn't it.
Like you I'm all over any changes in any of the markets. 24/7. There's so little liquidity in many of the markets that you can't really read too much into anything.
When one is being rerouted or has picked up an injury it's usually very obvious.

Yeah, I wouldn't disagree with why his price is what it is, but he's not done much wrong besides that defeat and there is barely any money wanting to back him, which is just a little strange, IMO.

Personally, I know I probably sound like a broken record, but it really would not surprise me if he was re-routed.

Where to? He's a very good but far from exceptional juvenile hurdler who would be too exposed for the Boodles and left standing in the Supreme.

Boodles, with a claimer on his back. He might end up too exposed but they won't know until they try, but I don't see him beating Vauban, and possibly his stablemate either.

              • His performances this season show a bit of a pattern in that his 2 runs on soft where way more visually impressive

He looks like a stayer whereas vauban and pied piper look like proper 2 milers

Stayers do have a habit of winning this race and if the ground got soft and brings stamina more into play it brings fil dor firmly back into the picture

Its barely rained in England the last month or two, if I know one thing its that is unlikely to last much longer

Il be keeping one eye on the weather

                  Perhaps Rob James.
JP is planning on using him for Sire du Berlais in the Pertemps, he's well regarded....

Jordan Gainford, Shane Firzgerald, they are not short in that department.

Is this the same Rob James that won the Kim Muir the other year & was then on that video riding the dead horse around the same time as the GE story last year? Be some old story if SDB wins a record 3rd Pertemps with that combo a year on!!! Sorry, wrong thread really

Do you fancy SDB for the Pertemps Moby?

                        • Nice looking performance again from Dr Parnassus today.
Absolutely no idea how good he is or could be, but he’s a darn good jumper.
Could end up the best of the UK.

Istabraq (I think) usually reminds me about tracks like Taunton and festival winners if I ever get to considering one....

Is this a track to ignore Ista? (I may be getting you confused tbf so correct me if I'm wrong!)

Yeah it cane from a link someone put up 5/6 years ago where the stats/trends were created by the final prep run a horse had, Taunton won’t have been the worst one. From memory the worst performing horses had their prep at:

                              Ludlow
                              Bangor
                              Plumpton
                              Huntingdon

Taunton won’t have been far behind those…

As an ew poke at 16s yes. Would rather it was a year or two younger but otherwise must have a decent shout.
