There are members who will know the answer but until they confirm the exact meaning we can all have a guess, and my understanding is that a horse is no longer registered as being with a professional racehorse trainer, presumably removed from the yard and living in a field following/in conjunction with treatment...

    • Think like many, am looking through markets and trying to focus where value might be to top-up bets, etc...And looks like there is some real value still in this market…

Looking at RPRs (which least provide a guide to juvenile performance levels broadly)…

      Fils Dor - 134, 138, 140

      In this World - 123

      Porticello - 113, 122, 128 (really ??)

      Iceo - 130

      Icare Allen - 126

      Pied Piper - 133

      Vauban - 133

      Knight Salute - 107, 114, 114, 124 (hold me back!)

      Interne De Sivola - 121

Yet Pied Piper and Vauban are 16s and 20s….longer than many of the fearless appealing English horses. Their first run is very similar in level to Fils For, which thanks to forum many of us already are lucky to have at much longer prices. PP poss due to same connections as FD, but given level he has run to, is he really a Boodles horse and think he would need 2 more runs anyway ?

Whilst maybe a few new players still to enter, usually we have seen most of key players by now

They have shortened a bit in last few days as i have been topping up at bit longer, but still look value….and also good for doubles with shorter-priced ones…..bit like GC in Bally and TMSG in Mares, they look over-priced

I like Fils For, but his numbers are nothing exceptional and does appear better on softer ground, which he may well not get on a Fri at Festival

      • It's got the feel of being a real poor juvenile year imo, as the above list shows. Which means there's still time for something to appear way ahead of the rest, maybe more than one as well. I'm quite happy being patient to be honest and waiting for some clues from entries in the next month or so.

Although Vauban taking a huge step forward would be nice I'm surprised him and PP have quite the ratings they do from that race mind. Maybe wouldn't need to be that huge a step on the rest we've seen so far.

I am thinking along the same lines although I'm trying to weigh up how much of that is genuine and how much is my seemingly doomed bet on Iberique du Seuil/Not getting on Fil d'Or whilst there was a nice price.

I do think Fil d'Or is very much beatable but at the moment that is the standard that needs to be matched. From what we've seen, I'd only have Icare Allen and Pied Piper/Vauban as potentially good enough IF they can improve from their debut runs. I don't want to get too tangled up in this race though and I'm willing to take it on the chin if Fil d'Or/Anything else beat Vauban/Icare.

It's quite possible that we might even see the winner go off at a bigger price SP than any of the ones I've named so far.

I’ve had a v.similar approach to this race so far as you have, Vauban/Icare Allen for me in a few doubles/trebles with TMSG, GDC & Eric Bloodaxe. Will have something on the day in the ring dependent on what comes out between now & then.

            • Double Green have bought Impulsive Dancer and he's going to Willie. Won very easily on debut at Naas for Richard O'Brien.

Isn't he a bumper horse rather than a juvenile? Suppose he could be directed that way, but I'd be surprised if he didn't stay over bumpers this year with a novice hurdling campaign next year.

Yes, I have absolutely no idea why I posted it in here! Sorry.

                    • I hadnt seen any update on Porticello in here recently so went on the hunt.

Moore updated last week to say that the plan is to get another run into him in February before a Triumph bid (although the same articule seems to suggest all options are open)

I really think Cheltenham will suit and given hes still a decent price (top price 12/1) i'm looking at a few more doubles with him.

Also In This World had a small setback and it looks like he will be straight to Cheltenham (if he does make it) So Porticello could effectively be a double figure priced second fav

I agree about Porticello, I think he'll relish the hill. I think in order for him to have a chance, he needs another to set a soaring pace.

I am worried about the set back by In This World. He is going into the triumph undercooked for me.

Fil dor is rightly favorite but he's getable imo.
Don't forget about pied Piper and more importantly, Vauban.
Both impressive in their last run.

Check Dandrew99 diary, and also the forums favourite Twitter reporter, Josh Stacey, has reported as much too, supposedly, although I've not seen this myself, I can only assume it is in one of his videos.

Yes Josh reported it on the latest Let's Talk racing (blue link should take you to the right part - clicking on the video image seems to play from the start - its 16:30 in either way)

                              • I've quickly become a big Porticello fanboy as he's a quirky sod with plenty of ability, but worth remembering on his most recent run they omitted 2 of the 8 hurdles, which is definitely to his benefit on what we've seen so far. He completely flattened the last hurdle at Chepstow although to his credit carried on as if it was never there in the first place! Absolute brick shithouse of a horse!
