The two I like are Glens of Antrim 25/1 and Idoles Des Jeunes backed at 20/1 (now 16/1)

With Glens of Antrim I do like the going back and having that experience really counts over the novices as proved with Concertista. She could easily run a few places better than 5th last year.

Idoles Des Jeunes has been with Willie for a while after having a set back last year and has form beating Cape Gentleman in France. Runs in the same colours of Appreciate It / Kilcruit and the yard think a lot of her.

Nice boost to Jumping Jet's form today with Choice of Words winning comfortably by 7.5 lengths.

What are we expecting from Jumping Jet today? Do many people have her earmarked for this race?

From watching her bumper she didn't half have them stretched out but to the eye there was probably alot of deadwood in the race albeit the form has been franked in behind since. Also doubtful that she might have the speed for a top 2m mares race imo :/

No doubt she goes and absolutely hacks up today

Better than that! Looked like she had plenty in hand but when asked for more didn't come up with an awful lot.

It looks like some of Gordon’s may need a run

I’d be happy to forgive that today, two errors final two hurdles probably took it’s toll. Was cruising into contention at one point, not all doom and gloom and I may be mad enough to go in again

Maybe she's more of a Stayer?

It's pretty flat around there, and it'll be slowly run so she'll need pace. I think that race is okay for a Mares Hurdle horse.

I always forget this race is 2miles, any reasons behind that seeing the Mares Hurdle is 2.5miles and the new Mares Chase is too?

I was about to answer and say presumably someone with an imagination thought it was some kind of progression, but what I really think is the mares should have their own finals away from the Festival.

If they're good enough to beat the boys in the Championship races, and are popping up regularly in handicaps, all three races have no place at the Festival and don't add a thing. They're basically championship races for substandard mares. I could perhaps at a push tolerate the mares novice race, but the two open races are a joke. Where's the races just for substandard geldings that can't win open championship races. There isn't one, because equally it served no purpose and adds nothing. I dislike them so much I'd rather have cross country races at different trips!!!

Right, off my soapbox and onto other stuff.

I'll be siding with WPM to regain his crown. It feels a bit lazy and its certainly not how to approach the vast majority of races, if not all other races at the festival, but he's just so dominant here. If you took all WPM horses that we haven't seen yet with either Cheltenham experience or a high profile recruit from France with a notable owner, then you would have found 4 of the last 6 winners and there's every chance we haven't seen the winner of this yet. Elle Eat Belle look temping, then I remind myself WPM has won 5 of the last 6 of these and we didn't see Limini till Jan, Let's Dance till late November, Laurina in December and Concertista in late November. He leaves hill tools in the workshop, basically. Gonna have to get to work on that shortlist, my worry is it wont be too short!

Agree with this, basically. No idea why the underperformance last year, maybe just none of them were good enough, but prior that if anything his performances were getting stronger with his making out the majority of the top 3, top 5 etc.

think the most obvious at this point would perhaps be grangee, idoles des juenes, allegory de Vassy and maybe glens of Antrim given his record of sending a few second season novices back for another crack at the race twice prior. Think grangee will probably be wanting further and the two miles may be a bit sharp for her, and idoles des juenes is very short for one that missed a full season with injury, not too many of those would end up coming good that have so much time off prior to a proper debut.

at the end of the day, if you disregard one year out of six all prior trends bode v well for allegorie de Vassy and I think the 25s with cashout is very fair for her compared to some of the others in the market, I thought she’d have been a more popular pick but her price doesn’t seem to have moved anywhere since being put up.
