  • Hors Piste jumped very well there (like she did on debut in France) but 2m5f + Soft/Heavy + Tramore does not equal the Mares Novice Hurdle winner. Could be a nice horse though.

      • In my view, based on what we've seen of the novice mares so far, Allegorie de Vassy will go to the Mares Hurdle with the best chance of Willie's horses.

          It's still early.
But Brandy Love looks by far the best.

Wasn't that impressed with her myself, the horse she was just beaten by ain't very good.

Her jumping was very good but that’s definitely not top notch form. It was a strange starting point for her but I think in time she’ll be decent enough.

              • I'm probably nitpicking but I thought Allegory De Vasy gave her hurdles a lot of respect

Ballooned most of them, certainly wasn't low at them

In a better stronger run race her jumping will either fall to pieces or get slicker, atm I cant decide which one is more likely

As a natural cynic id be inclined to lean towards it falling apart

Be interesting to see how all these mullins mares stack up

Mares Hurdle, or Mares Novice Hurdle?

To me she looks very scopey, has a decent amount of experience, and should be at least joint Fav for the Mares Novice Hurdle.

….David Casey reckons she was thrown in today, one to look out for over fences next year.

                    • Does anyone know whether Lunar Display is likely headed here or to a handicap? Been very impressed with her this year. Beat Queens Brook earlier in the year. Then Decent 2nd’s to Hollow games and Chemical Energy in Nov. Before a fine win LTO.

Seemed to run every other day earlier in the season.

I'd say ballooning them is harsh, she was safe and probably shaped like a chaser over them. Casey did comment on here being sizeable so it's probably her long term game.

Still i was very impressed with her and she looks potentially good enough to go close in this so the 25s was decent pre-race.

It's clear Brandy Love is very highly rated so it'll be interesting to see what happens going forward between the two and from other "newcomers" from the same location....

The Mares Novice Sax. I think she'll be smart. The dogs were barking pre-season for her, and that was a useful enough debut. She looked as though she'd benefit for a faster run race too.

The issue I have with Brandy Love is the Mares Novice Hurdle trip. She's clearly very good, but she shapes like a stayer to me, and quicker ground at the Festival over two miles may catch her out.

The mares novice is always seen as a staying 2 miles with the pace that they go at. I don’t see any issue with Brandy Love in that race. Ruby has said that about the race a few times as well

I'd lean towards it being a smaller pool to pick from, so the better horses that are classy enough to win it may be better over further in the future.

A little bit like the juveniles, that end up being stayers.... at Cheltenham we have a small pool and the best horse may not be a 2 miler ...but still good enough.

Bumper would be another similar situation.

The MNH at 2m is still probably easier to win than a Ballymore, even if your mare wants a bit further... if she's 'good enough' of course....

Yes, it’s a staying 2-Milers race, Kev, you’re dead right.

Brandy Love and Allegorie de Vassy fit that profile, I’m on both, but prefer ADV after todays Irish debut, she looks a really imposing specimen, and I can see her forging up the hill well, at Prestbury Park.

Willie is tightening his grip on the market for this race, now.
