  • Chances of Asterion Forlonge coming here, anyone? If he were mine it would be his only option for Cheltenham given how his season has panned out.

    • Sire Du Berlais at 33/1 NRNB BOG is too big, for the horse that was 2nd last year.

I know the Pertemps looks to be the target, but too big at 33/1 to pass up. No risk.

      • Imagine if Asterion Forlonge went off favourite for this race ?

          I really can't.

10/1 NRNB isn't even appealing is it?

Wouldn't touch him at Cheltenham with your money.

I took the 20-1 a few week back.
Cromwell mentioned that he'd heard it was going to run against Flooring Porter. He thought it would be a danger.
Might explain him being shorter on the exchange now and the B365 price for the ryanair

He just seems the type of horse that always gets backed.
He's a lovable loser - which is a remarkably attractive trait for most gamblers for some reason

              • I know this time of year big stables are holding back their best horses for the festival but I would have concerns about the form of the Gavin Cromwell stable

30 days and 68 runners without a win from a stable that has been prolific in the last few years

Of his last 30 runners 13 were double figure prices and 9 more were 100/1+, with one beaten favourite. Given this context I’d say you have zero to worry about.

                  • This is the time of the year when Cromwell starts work on next seasons handicap plots, and all his better horses stand looking out of their stable doors laughing at them before finding huge improvement for the Festivals in March, April and May.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

I think Q gives an even more candid version

                      • ….quite a few highlighting Royal Kahala for this on the Preview circuit. RK is a best price 10-1 but the horse that finished just behind it at Gowan Park despite some sketchy jumps is 50-1.

Joseph O’Brien’s Home by the Lee finished 8 lengths ahead of Ashdale Bob and 10l in front of Klassical Dream. No idea if he’s coming over but I never underestimate a JOB runner & I’ve had a little e/w @ 50-1 NRNB.

                          • Looking for a bit of value here and Sporting John could be a nice EW play. Sounds like heading here over the Pertemps. Any SJ backers out there??

Could be a nice ew play with doubts around some higher up in the betting but he doesn't look likely to get the soft ground that seems important to him as things stand.
