    • Am I missing something? He just won the best staying Hurdle race so far this season first time out looking fat as a pig. Like him or not he's a player in this now

      • Champ won well.
The fat comments are wishful thinking though,
        He's always looked fat.

        • Some people have weird agendas against certain horses and no result can change their opinion. It's an odd part of the game.

          • Have to admit I did not think he would win today, thought Buzz would, and then today thought RP would, but I did wonder how Champ might react to seeing the hurdles in front of him rather than the fences!! He reacted like I hope he would.
He had good solid form over hurdles, and although he’s getting on a bit he has to be a big player in this now.
Thats of course if he don’t go back chasing, as his trainer has just said it’s an option.
Personally think he’s just told them what he’s happiest doing, and where he has his best chance of success.

            • Regardless of how he won today I will never back Chump to win another race at Cheltenham. Just personal, nothing more. Everyone Wade in if you feel different.

As General Patton famously said lead me, follow me, or get out of my way.

well you’ve certainly made up your mind quite definitively and because you are not trying to convince us of your viewpoint through reasoned argument you are not trying to lead us. Nor are you showing any desire to follow anyone else in on the Champ bandwagon so you only have one option left which is move aside and let the champ followers get on with it

                        • I can see this being a race that is still a very murky picture even after 48 hr decs.
Unpredictable horses at the head of affairs and a supporting cast full of question marks.
All eyes on the Christmas Hurdle to add further intrigue...

                          • Some performance from Champ. Quirky, yes, but clearly very talented. I hope they go down the Gold Cup route cause he’s a major player here and some of the comments claiming otherwise are a bit daft in the wake of what we saw yesterday. He’s beaten the best of the British cosily enough, off a long break and after having had issues. He’ll almost certainly come on for the run and he’s definitely a player if they come here (I think they’ll go Gold Cup). Thyme Hill is clearly very good, but I think he’ll spend his career in the very top races always finding one or two too good. Holds zero appeal to me whatsoever.

                            • If Hendo is convinced he still has chase potential. Then they can put him in the cotswold chase...if he wins he goes gold cup and if not the stayers....for what it's worth I'm sure they would be ok with chantry and champ in the same gold cup

                                They should definitely do this.
                                But will Henderson ??

                                I'll be blunt, for once
The campaigning of this horse since beating Minella Indo & Allaho (no less) in the RSA has been nothing short of a fucking disgrace.
He's spent 2 seasons saying he can't find a race for him to run in.
The bullshit of left hand, right hand. He's never been round a track in a race over fences right handed in his life.
He can clearly run round a bend right handed, and they don't put fences on bends, they put them on the straight bits.
If I owned this horse I'd have put Henderson in the breeding shed with it.
