The one he is eventually declared in will reveal a lot about what they thought on yesterdays race and where he is heading

    • Elliott is keen to step Abacadabras up in trip for the Leopardstown Christmas Hurdle following his third to Honeysuckle in the Hatton’s Grace.

“For me he was a bit lacklustre, he had a good blow after it so he’ll come on for the run. He never got into the race to be honest, it was a very funny race,” said Elliott.

“For a horse who always travels well over two miles, for me he was very sleepy. I’ll step him up to three miles at Christmas and I’m looking forward to it. I’ll probably run Sire Du Berlais and Grand Roi as well.

“He’s probably not good enough to beat Honeysuckle in a Champion Hurdle and while no race is easy at Cheltenham, the best chance for him is probably the Stayers’ Hurdle.”

      • Burning Victory set to run in the 3m Navan handicap Saturday, in the same race Flooring Porter won.
A confident looking bit of placing IMO.
She'll be close to top weight.
Patrick just put her up as his nap. for SAT

        • 40/1 for the stayers as things stand. Tempting... If I wasn't already on three or four here already.

            • I think they should keep Aba fresh for Aintree which really suited him last season and skip the festival, I don’t think he’ll have the gas in the stayers

Spectre mentioned DC as a possible outsider for the Stayers. Could be inspired pick.

I agree I’ve been nibbling the 33 with hills for a while now. Thought Spectre summed it up perfectly.

The 5 year old thing would put me off.
                      And his dad.
Pertemps more likely, but even then his mark (IRE 143) don't look too attractive and the adagio link won't help his UK mark.
Interesting to see if and how he runs Saturday though. His flat runs were underwhelming.
The attraction to him is the one run in an odd race at Cheltenham.

Oh on breeding he’s a million totally, but for me he’s already shown he is not his breeding. The flat runs are just ticking him over I’d have thought so not bothered by that. The 5 year old has been niggling me. I think Spectre was right to point out that considering the small number of data points the performances so far have been more than reasonable. As you say Saturday will tell us more though would like a little rain. At the end of the day he’s a 33 shot so there’s gonna be question marks of course but I do think he is fascinating and he represents exactly the kind of scenario that typifies why I love this game.

I think I'm correct in calculating that BV would be 10 lbs better off vs Buzz if she were to face him in the Stayers hurdle vs what they both ran off in the Cesarewitch. Makes the 40s a tempting price with cashout. The win today/Stayers Hurdle double price will be interesting

                            • A number of posters have given a mention to burning victory. Hills have priced her up at 50s (58 with a boost) .Personally I think it’s a pretty fair price.

Yes, that's definitely fair. Although 40s with cash out is a good option too, given that she could end up in the Mares Hurdle.
