Horrible to see any horse break down like that, but I know a lot of you had a soft spot for him for various reasons so sucks that little bit more. Its the unfortunate down side of the sport we love.

I backed Abacadabras fairly early for this with a free bet but I’m sort of doubting if he’ll be good enough or if he’s a genuine stayer.
If you watch the Aintree race back he’s all out to hold on over 2m4f and buzz is finishing like a train. He cruises to the front and is the winner from the last. For me only one horse you’d want to back for the stayers watching that race imo. Add 4 furlongs on too it’ll suit buzz a lot more than Aba for me.
I don’t think you can make the excuse of being tired because buzz had only had one run less than Aba and one of Abas runs at Cheltenham he fell early so wasn’t really a race so to speak.

We learned nothing about Aba, seemed like a complete schooling out the back and when he did move forward in the straight he seems to peter out too.
3M at Christmas will tell us whether he's a Stayers Hurdle horse or not. Flooring Porter should make it a test at the trip, and he ran his most impressive race of the season in that race last season.
Klassical's defection due to the fact he wasn't the same as his Punchestown self does raise real doubts for me about him.
One big run in two years and a history of not being ready to race isn't a Festival favourites background record that tempts me.
He probably won't be fav if Buzz wins at Ascot next time out.Last edited by Saxon Warrior; 28 November 2021, 07:45 PM."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

My next worry then would be if he pulls himself up, will he be able to get to the last in the stayers on the bridle to then fight up the hill? I’ve not been watching racing as long as others on here, but the only couple I recall being that cosy in a stayers was Big Bucks who is viewed as the greatest and Thistlecrack. On evidence he doesn’t do a lot in front, we know he needs delivered late. Many have called him out for giving up in a finish or not having the fight for it in the past (rightly or wrongly).

I can see Abacadabras going for the Champion Hurdle again to just pick up some place prize money before going back to Aintree with a winning chance. I don't see there being any more than 7/8 runners in the Churdle should Honey get there in one piece and connections won't be able to resist getting their hands on some easy money. I do not see him in the Stayers at all.

Happy enough with that performance today from Abacadabras. Given he never seemed to put into the race (like a few) he stayed on fairly well.
All eyes will be on him when he does step up to 3 miles.
whether that be at Christmas or at the festival.
He still needs to go out and do it at the trip. But I certainly wouldn’t of pushed his price out after today.
