Also the way he finished at Aintree over 2m4. Still yet to run over 3 and I reckon it will be his trip

The question would be is he a proper grade 1 horse or will he just fall short

That Aintree race he finished second in was a glorified group 3/2

So many Aintree Grade 1s are, but that’s because the NH powerhouses are from over the Irish Sea and the cluttered Spring calendar can’t accommodate all top horses.

The stayers division isn’t strong and needs fresh faces, there are far worse shorter prices options in the current market…

I'd say he has a good shot at being a proper grade 1 horse, at 155 he's currently rated 7lbs behind Thyme Hill. Buzz has raced mainly over 2 miles but was finishing strongly over two and a half at Aintree, then again finished strongly in the Cesarewitch so 3 miles could easily bring out further improvement. And at 33/1 I'm happy to pay to find out.

Odd as after winning they said Aintree was the main plan again. Don't know who to believe these days !

“We can look at all the nice races over hurdles now. He’s turned a corner this summer and is more relaxed now.
“I was confident earlier in the week because of the ground, but then it started drying out. We just got away with it.

“He’s got all the big targets now – he’s a proper Grade Two/Grade One horse over hurdles. The race at Aintree is for him – he’s got a huge future.

“Most importantly, 25 per cent of the prize-money goes to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.”

After he won the Ces, doing all his best work at the finish, going away,i liked him for this. Now this appears to be the plan,i really like him

Yeah I don't disagree but he isn't short of speed, I never got round to backing him last season but thought after his weight carrying handicap exploits he might be a live outsider for the Champion Hurdle.
Aintree is a speed track, horses who accelerate there can be mistaken for stayers, but Buzz could have both skillsets...

I can understand how they might go for the Stayers as, apart from FP, it does look very open. That said I'm not a backer as I can't see him lasting out over a stiff undulating 3m in top company.

Can't remember the exact words ,but Oisin M said he didn't think he'd pass BV until late on when he stayed on up the rising ground. Totally unexposed over longer trips,i"m convinced he's a major player

                    • Remember there's a few hurdles to jump as well BD which takes a lot more out of them.

                      • That's true enough Lobos, but only 3 in the last 7f. That's when the afterburner will kick in.

You'll be Buzzing when that happens!

That's how I saw it also. Looked to be doing all his best work near the line. I was more impressed with the distance he put between himself and 3rd and 4th than how close he got to Aba who isn't the best finisher.

                              • He was ridden to get the trip at Aintree on his first try beyond 2 miles so was a decent effort. He and BV knocked em bandy on saturday and i've no doubts in my mind he'll stay 3 miles . Stayers'hurdles can be slowly run affairs anyway.
