    No “Grey” in KevWorld?

    Just Black and White

2nd beaten 1/2 length by Honeysuckle in Irish Champion Hurdle
3rd beaten 6 lengths in the Champion Hurdle

More runs over Hurdles than the other runner returning from chasing - Champ, of course, but until Champ won pre-Christmas, then Darver Star was a 10lb better hurdles horse (on their best 2 RPRs, all in Grade 2’s’) - now he is 3lb behind Champ over hurdles.

I think his Chase results have taken the shine off him, and like Champ he is a 10yo now.

Neither are rock solid for the Stayers, IMO, but Darver Star is likely to prep for it, in the Boyne Hurdle, so we will better gauge his chances there.

Champ? Chasing, Hurdling? - not sure.

Can't but agree with this. Those two look miles clear of anything else.

      • Nobody is convincing me those two are miles clear of Champ tbh. He's still the massive unknown here imo, who could actually be better than the lot. The rest I'd agree with.

Oof, a little bit of putting words in my mouth - I don't think I made a definitive black or white "he can't win", I just said he's hard to fancy ....

As ever, the price is key, if he was even money I'd be black or white and say it's the worst price I'd ever seen, at 100/1, I'd look at the snippets of good form from 2 years ago and try to make a case around that.

It is in the grey area, the huge grey area that makes Darver Star hard to fancy.

Bringing Champ into it - I don't really know why you did that, however if I had to say the more likely winner between the two it'd be Champ without any shadow of doubt... he's just much better IMO.

Personally, I hope Champ runs in the Gold Cup, as he's a horse I'm not on here that I think has a chance of winning....

Darver Star 75 on the Exchange still for about 20 quid.

                  • Not that I see him remotely troubling the two market leaders, but McFabulous comes here.

I wouldn’t dismiss him entirely, totally unexposed as a stayer and has some solid form in the book.
Stayed on well up the hill on Saturday and a little surprised he hasn’t been tested over further more often…

                      • He should hava gone chasing after getting turned over by Thyme Hill and Paisley in my view. Nicholls just took the view he didn't stay, but it was a difficult task (on paper at least) to go into that company from a Persian War.

Had a setback over the summer which is why he's still hurdling.

Going for the Cleeve beforehand so you'd think you'd get a price at entry stage, but it probably won't be 50s!
