  • My view on the stayers is the Irish horses a far superior to the English ones Klassical Dream is the best horse and brings the best form in the book i.e. Supreme winner and easy winner of the stayers at Punchestown, if he shows up nothing will trouble him.

    • If klassical dream can become consistent then he will take plenty of beating i agree

Id just need to see him do it again to fully believe the punchestown run

and I dont really see him as an antepost bet because of all the time off the track

      • Klassical dreams run in punchestown reminds me of Faugheen’s in the same race, and coincidentally they both even recorded the same RPR for the performance. Unlike Faugheen, Klassical dream has age on his side when it comes to considering what he may do next season but ultimately I’d be surprised if he can be as good as that run made him look

            • "In the Hatton's Grace (Hurdle) we'll have Stormy Ireland and possibly (Galway Hurdle winner) Saldier. You're taking on Honeysuckle in that so you need something very good to take her on."

Klassical Dream, last seen winning over three miles at Punchestown in April, still holds the Hatton's Grace engagement as well ahead of tomorrow's declaration stage.

No quote including klassical dream so doubt he is a runner this weekend.

                        The trainer is an idiot.

I doubt Thomas Darby can get competitive in a half decent Stayers hurdle but I sneaked him into patent at 40/1 with Hollow Games and American Mike before he ran (badly) at Wetherby, I always thought he could make a good stayer and wasn't entirely sure why he was sent to the Coral Cup off top weight.
On paper that looked a decent G2, clearly one or two didn't run to their best but it's the sort of race whose formlines might grow in significance as the season progresses...

                          • Was a strange race, Paisley Park looked like he’d win half the straight then made a what looked a seriously race ending jump but at the same time was still a good way to go. Maybe at his age mistakes like that he is no longer to recover from. TD looked like he wouldn’t be able to go with them then just came out of nowhere.

                              Was an awful race weren't

The hobbs horses and best Irish horses wouldve won that on the snaff if a dog like Thomas Darby can win

I respect everyone’s views in here but I find that a slightly odd statement.
Granted one or two are likely to be regressing but behind him today were 2 of the last 3 winners of the Stayers hurdle, a consistent 150+ hurdler, last years runaway Pertemps winner and the 4th in the Mares hurdle who also won a M Pipe off a big weight.
Whether they’re all primed and peaked to win today is another matter but the winner can do no more than beat what lines up with him.
As I say, I still see TD short of what’s needed to win a Stayers but there’s nothing negative about comfortably winning a Long Distance Hurdle and if he builds on that he could well throw his hat into what is a foggy ring…
