This was my exact thought after the race. Samcro proved expensive to follow in the end and I think Envoi will too.

Envoi allen looked beat from someway out and looks to me I think the horse won't cope with a steep hill finish at a track like Cheltenham.
Are you talking about the new course over the old course N9999? Or the course in general?

Hes 2 from 3 (fall in the Marsh) at Cheltenham so I wouldn’t say it’s anything to do with the Cheltenham hill that would effect him.

Today looks like he isn’t as good as we probably all hoped over fences. Having looked so good on his seasonal debut he hasn’t backed it up today for whatever reason.

      • To me its starting to look like he just hasn't improved enough since his novice hurdle days to cut it in open company

He was very good in bumpers and in novice hurdles but its beginning to look like his progress has plateaud

        very much like samcro

        • Today was a very very warm race, he hasn’t run to a figure like lto but it’s not terrible to come 6th in that field. They have nothing to lose chancing him at 3M nto now.

More annoying that Allaho wins first up & ruins any chance of a price for the Ryanair going forward as even with a wobble in his next race he won’t get pushed to any bigger than he was pre race today anyway.

          • Allaho wears his heart on his sleeve doesn't he, but that was a hard race and I doubt he'll got for the KG now. Also he doesn't seem a KG horse. Kempton is called a sharp track but so often the field ends up strung out like washing - it's still 3 miles One or two easier races in Ireland and then another display in the Ryanair would be the programme I would think.

            • Would have been very interesting to see what the outcome would have been if AF had not gone through the 4th last. He was travelling all over Allaho at the time. If he'd had won and Allaho a well beaten second then the bookies may well have pushed Allaho out in the betting. Funny old game this. Just hope Mullins sends Asterion Forlonge to the KG now. He'd have a hell of a chance in that as he appears to have continued his improvement.

Just checked and he's been smashed in across the boards to as low as 8/1 in places so I'm not the only one who thinks he should be Kempton bound on Boxing Day!

              • I think Asterion Forlonge has always been a top horse but his jumping mistakes almost always are race ending for him. If he could sort out the jumping...

                    • Allaho potentially going straight to Cheltenham....

“I think he probably needs a break after that. Maybe he’ll have a run in February and then go on to Cheltenham, or maybe he’ll go straight to Cheltenham and then Aintree after that.
“We look at Allaho as a horse that will hopefully be around for another three or four years, so we’re not that fussed about running him too much.”

                      • Going straight to Cheltenham has been reiterated again, Ryanair named as the target unsurprisingly.

                        • Had a look over Bet365s NRNB prices this afternoon and I think the 12/1 on Shan Blue is very fair and I have taken that.

Not sure if he was going to get home in the Charlie hall when falling 4 out but he was looking good.

With his current mark a handicap might well be on the agenda but with how weak the RyanAir looks (apart from Allaho) this could be the aim. The cover of NRNB is a must IMO.

                          • He’d have a bit to find on Officials

                            • Probably a decent E/W bet with NRNB to be fair. As apart from Alaho this is looking weak. I'm sure I heard they were going Gold Cup though.. may have made that up

                              • Personally i would be surprised if Shan Blue runs at the Festival, i think he will be held back until Aintree, i'd be even more surprised if he ran in the Gold Cup, Protektorat is Skelton's horse for that
