I don’t think I’ve seen much evidence to say he goes in either race.
I think they are still thinking about both races, and why not.
Its what this yard normally do.

    • GDC is my most backed horse in multiples, dbls, trebles, trixies and yankees. All for the rsa. It was the most likely scenario with Bob going marsh, I presumed they would avoid him. However the improvement shown by bravesmangame over fences, coupled with Bob not looking as natural as BMG has surely got Willie mullins thinking... Is Bob an easier opponent over fences?

      • There is no question Bob Olinger is a bigger contest than Bravemansgame

From what I've seen bravemansgame is a different proposition over fences.

On last years meeting its Bob Olinger thats the one to avoid, of those two.

            Last Season
When they clashed in the Ballymore, coming into the race BMG had a best RPR of 154 and Bob a best RPR of 152.
At Cheltenham BMG dipped off his best by 3lb to 151 in the race, and Bob improved 11lb to 163.

            This Season
So far this year, after 3 chase runs BMG has a debut RPR win of 149, and a 3rd time out best RPR of 162
After 2 chase runs Bob has a debut RPR win of 155, and a 2nd time out best RPR of 165.

SO BMG is close pre-Festival to Bob, just like he was last season (3lbs off him c/w 2lbs off him last season) but hes not better than him, on those figures, and Bobs only ran in a Grade 3, to BMG's Grade 1 top rating.

            WPM's Position
WPM will not have any more knowledge to go on than he does now, on BMG and Bob so I dont think he would jump into a battle with Bob, just to avoid BMG.

Like many on here, we understand with the trainers methods, the final decision wont be taken until very late, so nothing completely definitive will be coming from him, until very close to the Festival.

To try and work out who may be injured or perform brilliantly or poorly before the Turners/Brown/NHC - that may influence how Willie moves his team around in response, could feel like a never-ending game of "what-if's".

Now NRNB is here, and the Exchange markets should strengthen up too, at least we have tools at our disposal to cover positions, or take new positions.

Agree, Bob O was of course the better horse last season over hurdles but watching both horses jump a fence this season I think it would be very interesting if they met in a chase.

As for GDC, to be honest I think he would win either race and pretty comfortably.

              • I've buckled tonight. Was thinking about it last night, thinking I'd have GDC fav to beat Bob O over this trip, so 6/4 was fair.

Seeing PP cut to 5/2 and push for the RSA - I don't think the 6/4 NRNB price will last the night....

You've gotta stop calling him Gars De Sceaux though Kev please? My OCD can't take it.

Strangely they have pushed Capodanno out for the RSA as well. My take was that if Galopin went Marsh it was a good omen for Capodanno in that race - but maybe not.

Might have to try and stay off Oddschecker for a while - this is all consuming

Edit: they have cut Jungle Boogie pretty short so maybe that’s the angle - or probably just jumping at shadows

                          • Anybody else doing the Bravemansgame (RSA) / GDC (Turners) double? Another option for a bit of cover on GDC ending up here. I'd fancy him to beat Ahoy Senor again, unless AS's jumping has massively improved. I think the only real danger to him is what Willie sends here instead of GDC in that situation...

Haha I literally just edited my post to say that. Just grabbed a point at 32/1 on the exchange - I need to get a life
