  • Simon Rowland has just put up the times from two out on his live blog from yesterday and today:

    17.2f BLUE LORD 51.7s

    24.3f CONFLATED 50.6s

    17.2f A WAVE OF THE SEA 51.8s

    21.3f GALOPIN DES CHAMPS 50.4s

I don’t pretend to know much about sectional timings, but to be quicker than the Irish Arkle suggests it was a fast time?

I did previously say I'd fancy GDC to beat Bob at 2 and half but I wouldn't be so sure post race now..
I don't know, but Willie Mullins said it and I don't think he'd have made it up?

GDC's jumping wasn't as good today as on debut... I think it is less likely they clash now than I did before the race. Which I am sure is the general view on here too!

Just means the Arkle was faster earlier on and they wilted at the end (97% finishing speed).

Looks more like the Arkle was slow, to me. This would accord with the jumping errors we saw.

you’d need the whole picture but would probably say the opposite. Arkle = flat out end to end gallop therefore a slower finishing time because they’re tiring
2m5 race = went slower through the race therefore could quicken to finish.

you’d need to see the full sectionals, and I’m just guessing here, but I think that’s what it would imply. It could just be a really good time. But can’t really say without the full picture. Also fact ground has soft in it today to factor in. So as clear as mud

            • Fair enough - hadn’t considered the slowing down point. As I said, needs better people than me to understand the sectionals!

              • I've backed him here, and only here. There is a case for the Turners for sure, not least breeding and age which doesn't have the best record in the longer race.

But there's little i can do to change it, and he's too short for the Turners now (and I'd prefer Bob). It's in the hands of the gods now. Or rather Willie

                • Stattler more likely here or the Brown Advisory you think?

Mullins after Stattler’s win: “He was a bit novicey but I suppose it was a big step up in class from his first win. That will probably put him into the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham and a longer trip going a bit steadier will suit him."

                        Neither. NH Chase.

If Galopin was to go here though than the 3 miler might come into consideration for him.

                        • KK thanks all. Just trying to find a horse NRNB that has a chance of being second fave after Bob. Seems everything else has a better offer. GDC to Brown, Blue Lord to the Arkle, Bravemansgame going Brown, Stattler NHC.... So we have L'Homme Presse, Riviere D'etel, Jungle Boogie, Saint Sam, Haut En Couleurs.... ???

Basically, I am trying to find a couple to put with Janidil NRNB for the Thursday when I'm yelling at them live on Thursday...

If not GDC then got to be L’Homme Presse surely?

Absolutely. He's looked every bit as impressive as Bob/GDC this season imo albeit at a lower level. I'll wait until the day though and the 'without Bob' betting so I can win twice.

L'Homme Presse the only one of those who has this as the most obvious target you'd think!

                                I think he's look fantastic.
