  • Was just seeing Native Rivers work on the Cheltenham Trials day meeting and I think it will be very likely if Bob doesn’t run at Limerick (which I think will be ground related), he’ll run in the dipper on New Year’s Day.

He could then run at the Flogas at the DRF, or be kept fresh but I think HDB will want to get 3 runs into him hence all the entries lately (2 in England). Fact he’s not been able to get him out may force him into running at the DRF or find something else over here as I don’t think there’s much in Ireland for him just before or after the DRF.

Good call for the Dipper, that race trip is good, if they continue with mid-trip runs, and its a Grade 2, so should be a decent test.

      • ….Hills have Pic D’orhy 33-1 for this in their Specials, it’s a general 20-1 elsewhere.

        • Pretty sure Nicholls mentioned skipping Cheltenham and going Aintree in his post race interview...

Could change his mind of course but one to be wary of

Nicholls said its unlikely he heads to Cheltenham as the 2m4 at Aintree is perfect for him.

He'd fall in this. Hasn't yet figured out how to shorten into a fence at speed from what I've seen. Saw two on a good stride yesterday at speed and he jumps brilliantly when that happens. Reminds me a bit of Master Tommytucker, just taking him a little while to figure it all out

Yep - you'd be closing your eyes watching him come down the hill. Personally, I'd like to see him dropped back to 2m and left him bowl on.

I'd like to see him over 2m this season as he looks an out and out speedster to me. But Nicholls is talking about a step up, which I don't particularly understand

I’d give thought to 66/1 - 20/1 is abysmal (I know you’re just the messenger). Not just because of his jumping and ability at the top level, but the trainer has shown preference for Aintree and this race looks Uber competitive, so will probably avoid IMO

Totally agree. Hands in front of face moment as he approached that downhill fence..

                      • Blue Sari - Does anybody know if this is priced up for the race?
Ran a good second on Chase debut when staying on to Farouk, came always goes well at Cheltenham, fell in last years Coral but was coming strongly.
The trip would be the question, but I don't think the horse is short of pace.

Noted Mullins stable tour seems well off, as he starts him out in a beginner's Chase, although wouldn't surprise me to see this horse in the Coral again this season.

We've thought a lot of him from his four-year-old bumper season. He's had little issues that I think have just held him back, but hopefully with age and maturity he'll cast those aside. There's an engine in there and he could be nicely handicapped over hurdles."

What do people think? I may request a price

                        • Bob Olinger not entered in the Faugheen Novices Chase at Limerick on 26th Dec. At least expected him to be among the 5 day entries. Wonder if they'll run in the Dipper on New Years Day.

An update on this, I have requested a price and it has been added to the market by Will Hill and Bet365 at 25/1 for the race if anyone is interested. Does anyone have any insight into what Willie is planning to do with the horse before I let fire?

I'd be very surprised if he wasn't handicap bound - be it in UK or Ireland tbh. Can't see a situation where he beats Bob and if the mark is attractive over hurdles, they can keep it attractive over fences as well surely
