Jamie Codd was very sweet on American Mike.
I'd use Willie's post drf reaction as the best barometer and he thought he saw something very very good

No one is talking about Mullenbeg (correct me if I am wrong).
I just think that she has a big chance. She will be getting the 7lb mares allowance from most of the big guns.
How often have we seen mares win the Bumper recently? Fayonagh and Relegate - 2 from 14 since 2013 (14% S/R). Compare that to 7 from 173 for the males.
Won at the course 29th Jan - was slotted in 2nd last for the majority of the race until about 6f out, then cruised up to be on the leaders' heels 1f later. When asked the question with 1.5f to go, I was both impressed with the pickup and how she finished off the race, but also the fact that there should be more improvement as she had her head raised a bit high until the final half-furlong.
Generally, the Bumper is won by something that is quietly settled off the pace, midfield, maybe slightly behind that, then comes through the field around the corner and through the field between 4f-2f out (with the exception of Sir Gerhard last year!).
I think she is a proper horse.

Although NRNB only as trainer has mentioned other options and has 2 entered. Rosy Redrum, whom he said was better (think he's an enthusiastic type)
I think only one may run and one might run at Sandown next weekend possibly.
Think it's sandown anyway, there's a mares bumper somewhere at some point

Facile Vega is in the category of most likely winner in the race but has been a pretty bad price for a while. I'm sure he was odds on in some antepost markets a few weeks back. Can see why he's a popular 'value' lay selection at the prices.
But ultimately he wins.

Willie Mullins on Redemption Day:
"Patrick was very impressed with him at Christmas. We didn’t get the chance to get him out at the Dublin Racing Festival. Fingers crossed he stays right and he’ll go to Cheltenham as he’s a good back-up to Facile Vega"
I just saw this on Twitter.
Does Willie usually call a horse a back-up that is under a different owner? I always thought he usually would say something along the lines of 'he'll go with a fair chance' and not usually this blunt
