I know it will go against the grain being second season Bumpers but Willie has so many Novice Hurdlers at his disposal it sort of solves a good problem ,fits in nice and gives him a big chance of another festival winner.
From what i can gather it was David Thompson who was keen to get the NH side of things moving. Since his passing im sure its been quoted that they are looking to run down the NH operations. Like you say Lobos with 6 year olds there to win the bumper and then progress to hurdles would be in line with SG and would likely keep them in racing longer. It kind of feels like they want to almost rush it through now and draw a line with the NH horses which is a little sad to think i know, but its the only reason i can think of as to why they wouldnt look to keep them in bumpers?

I think in this instance it's because their latest purchases were geared around trying to win a Gold Cup. Yes CPS have won the bumper for the last three years but that has been with a different type of horse. Classic Getaway and Grangeclare West are more your typical chasers and in my opinion, hanging around in bumpers will be pointless with them.

Latest at the races Mullins stable tour says of Classic Getaway:

“He’s a lovely horse that was impressive in a bumper at Tipperary back in May. His work here has always been very strong and we are excited about him. We are going to send him over hurdles and we are really looking forward to seeing where he ends up.“

Didn't someone senior at Cheveley Park say last March that they wouldn't be attending Cheltenham to watch Envoi Allen as there were stud matters to deal with.
I'd suggest with attitudes likes that it's only a matter of time before the NH operation is wound down...

Chris Richardson I think someone said. Doesn’t give much hope for a change of heart does it.

He’s been there a while off the top of my head, think he’s the main man behind the breeding operation.

Someone with more knowledge is welcome to correct me though!

He’s been the MD running the stud business since the mid-80s.

The Thompson’s always liked National Hunt on a personal level - away from the stud business - used to run their horses in their personal silks (ie Party Politics won the Grand National)

Think the use of the Cheveley silks was more they expanded the number of horses & it’s a bit of free advertising when they run!

                  • Bellatior looked quite keen for a long way there so will hopefully will come on for that a bit. Kilbarry chloe wasn’t going down without a fight so nice to see that she can battle

She looked very green and Jamie Codd rode a great race to win. The first two have finished a long way clear of the rest of the field so it will be interesting to see how the form stacks up.

                      • Bellatior comments (irishracing.com)

Altior's half-sister Bellatior (10/11f) won on debut at Naas today, completing a double for her trainer Gordon Elliott in the concluding Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Mares) Bumper.

By Walk In The Park and out of Monte Solaro, the four year old filly was a €300,000 at the Derby Sale in August 2020 and while racing keenly today, responded well when asked for effort by jockey Jamie Codd in the straight, eventually getting the better of experienced Kilbarry Chloe.

Elliott, earlier successful with impressive winner Teahupoo, later said “she’s a little bit hot but she’s very nice. She’s going to be good.

“She was keen but to pick up and go as she did was good.

“We’ll take our time with her and probably leave her now until the spring.”

                        • From that I doubt she'll be traveling over for the festival. More a long term Hurdles prospect.

I think Spring means Spring Festival Bumpers Lobos. No point in going anywhere else. I think it's highly likely we see her in March given it's classic Elliott MO.
