American Mike given the highest RPR awarded to a winner of the race at the weekend in the last 10 runnings (didn’t go back further, not sure how long the race has been around for). 2lbs higher than both envoi & sir g got for their wins.

I'm on at decent prices, so he's definitely the one I want to win the bumper, but unlike Sir Gerhard last season, he's yet to beat anything of note. That said, of course, he can only beat what's in front of him. Unfortunately for us punters we probably now won't see American Mike until the festival, should he go down the same route as Sir Gerhard, which he has done so far, so we won't actually know what he's capable of achieving, when asked a question, until the day.
I wanna see him dig deep to win rather than to win at a canter to a bunch of trees.
Obviously the potential is there but I'd have like to have seen a challenger.

”American Mike may have been beating up second-raters at best on Saturday, but he beat them up good and proper, conceding weight, running a fast time and appearing to have plenty in the locker.
His 146 rating is better than Fayonagh (133), Relegate (137) and Sir Gerhard (143) among Cheltenham Champion Bumper winners in the last five years, and only just behind Ferny Hollow (147) and Envoi Allen (150). Those ratings are at a level which corresponds with what horses can be expected to do as hurdlers in the next 12 months, unlike some alternatives”

Appreciate It and Carefully Selected both ran in that race before coming second in the bumper
