I've been a non believer for a long time but slowly coming round to the idea he could do it, 5/1 exactly doesn't scream value but I'm worried about the potential weight of public money that could come and what that does for his price, not convinced he'll get any bigger at any point from here...
No worries pal, bouncing about the place like a 5 year old so similar to my post yesterday, if you can look past his age and draw a line through that stayers run, you can get 5/1 about a horse who's festival form reads 11121 and when you factor in his course experience and ability to handle good or good to soft (both of which can't be said about the fav), then surely he's a good price at 5/1, especially when the market looks pretty weak. There is blue for him this morning which is presumably off the back of Gordons tweets. Ultimately, he pinged his obstacles and was loving life, can't really ask for a better sign after racing the week before.

    • There will be a huge amount of money for him in the day if he gets there safe and well. I've no doubt at all he'll go off a heavily backed favourite and why not !!??

      • Video on instagram - Mortal is schooling alongside Tiger so would suggest he runs here (rather than the KM - which was suggested at one point?).

        Both looked in top form.

I'd say yes based on that

There's so much unknown about the fav and whether Easylands will run, take them two out and Tiger is probably near evens.
I've been a big fan of Shady Operator for a while and he is a serious runner for me, seems to be the forgotten horse and I think he'll go close but Tiger is the experienced battle hardened warrior and, I could be wrong here, I get the impression this is his main target for the year and then potential retirement, and if that's the case you can be sure he will be trained to the minute and not as he was two years ago before his intended shot at National history...

Any thoughts on Shady Operators hurdles return? Didn't see any posts on here. Appreciate it's a completely different beast all together, hurdles and cross country but he didn't go particularly well did he. Obviously was all about fitness but he was well detached a good few hurdles before Tiger.

He's my only bet in the race ATM but think I'm going to join the Tiger fan club again.

Unfair not to mention Mortal, he schooled well upside Tiger too and was enjoying himself. Not as much scope over his obstacles mind.

Could only fancy Mortal under the handicap conditions he ran off at Cheltenham before xmas

Think he will struggle here off level weights

                    • This is probably nothing but I did notice from the video that Codd was on Mortal - a pointer to the Kim Muir perhaps?

                      I'm almost certainly overthinking it

                      • Codd usually rides something in the race , not always for GE , Keith D used to ride Tiger Roll , now he's moved on i suppose Davy might ride , the fact Codd is sitting on Mortal suggests he will probably ride him if it is the X country

I don't think there are any deductions to be made. Jody will have been told pipe opener and he was ridden as such. We see it time and time again with this race, both at Cheltenham in trials and elsewhere. Trailed off can mean relatively little pre festival when all roads lead to Cheltenham. Theoretically Tiger is a 12 year old beaten 30L 6 days ago that has no right to be fresh and bucking, but today he was, because its all part of a bigger plan and these hurdles return hold little form value.
