  • Quevega You're a far better wordsmith than me!

Either you want fairness, or you don't. Any halfway house in your personal expectations means you're not being fully honest imo

    • Whilst I disagree on your 365 point, that's a good response. And the point specifically you make about non public info is also fair.

At the heart of this though, irrespective of our positions differing slightly, someone has manipulated a market, and it should be investigated. People have lost money because of false information being released. It should be investigated, and the results of that investigation should act as a future deterrent to anyone in the racing industry.

Agreed! Apologies if I came across as antagonising or anything - I have strong views on bookmaking industry and tend to be overly succinct in my comments usually

Robust debate is good thorne, so not at all. Different opinions are the life blood of any good forum.

            Absolutely.
The authorities should investigate, and also the people who have used or know the sources should make their own enquiries too.

I'm not privy to the actual wording of the information that was passed around, but it sounds like they may have just jumped the gun as it seems clear from the statements made that he was lame for a short while.

With the recent ADV case on a similar tack when she went lame - then not lame - then lame again - then found to be suffering with a bone issue, it makes some sense that people with this initial information may have over egged it. If this was intentional, reckless or mischevious and not just a genuine mistake then they should indeed be reprimanded.

IMO - I reckon they were just reckless with the information and more definitive than the actual facts.

            • Spectre are you able to disclose what line, if any, you got on ADV?

              • No information on ADV Exar Essay. I was given definitive information that Energumene was out of the Festival however. The source was credible and is never wrong. I know quite a lot of people who have been burnt by it.

Is there anything to be said for Envoi Allen being a bit of a forgotten horse here? You have to be a bit forgiving but he's not had a terrible season given the general form in the yard. If he returns to his old form 20s is big despite the opposition. And would make an already fascinating race even better...!

Jamie Codd has mentioned him a couple of times, I've had to have some of the 37/1 available on the exchange, I don't expect him to get near Shishkin but a horse that showed that much class a year ago just has to be backed at 37s...

                        • Yep had a few quid on him myself. HDB has a decent record in this race and Envoi was the second coming this time last year. Has festival form so worth a punt

Like the opening line. Probably true for all of us.

Backing previous festival winners blindly is a profitable, both win and each way.
Wouldn't knock it... although have to admit I'd probably be looking for a 'without' market and have him each way on the day or something like that.

I don’t think so. I know they don’t rate him in Henry’s yard at all, thinks he works ordinarily and Gordon placed him really well, which when you look through where he went and what he did, it actually makes sense.

                              • Nicholls just confirmed Greaneteen won't run at Cheltenham, said he picked up an eye injury last time out in Leopardstown, either a bit of turf hit him or he got a kick. Will be kept for Aintree he hopes.
