Shishkin has come out great, sound, eaten up etc... "Thank goodness all is well", "He's come out great, bouncing and happy" - Nicky on RTV this morning.

I'd prefer than to Energumene at 4/1 before tomorrow.....
Only because it has huge potential to shorten up again. Is Greanateen really a better horse than CPS? He's 8/1
The risk with CPS is at least now in his price. It isn't with Energumene.
Not rushing to back anything though, but that'd be where I'd lean.
This race is over hyped too this year. Gutted I missed the podcast where Spectre and Jono were gushing about it.
Both horses approaching 180 figures
The rematch to come in March.
Worth every bit of hype and gushing that we gave the race back in November I’d say

Visually, Shishkin has impressed me more than Altior. I also wouldn't rate today's performance 181 - I have it 176 or 177.
timeform provisional ratings are 181p and 180

3/1 for Energumene now, was only 4/1 then is funny.
Energumene put in a performance yesterday to fully justify the price he is now (and the price he'd been put in at, although I don't think until yesterday we had evidence he was up to Shishkin's level)
I'm surprised so many people are effusive about Shishkin 100% beating him in March. He hasn't walloped him by any stretch. Energumene is a lot better than I thought he was.
Shishkin a rightful favourite of course, and will on paper have much more in his favour when they clash at Cheltenham, but they're more closely matched than Altior / Min battles were built up to be.

I think it fair to say that Energ probably cannot improve much from that. He ran pretty much the perfect race to my eyes, jumped well and travelled well.
Shishkin on the other hand did not travel as well as E, and his jumping was not as good as it normally is, so for Shishkin to still win says a lot for me,
Having said that, only a length in it, so still all to play for on a totally different track on probably different ground.
We know S performs at Cheltenham, we dont know if E will, but thats not to say E wont. He might relish it.
Still a fascinating race to look forward to.

Totally agree Carnage. That was Energumene chance yesterday and he didn't take it. Even Mullins said after that he expected Shishkin had more left and he was right. I think Shishkin broke Energumene and his connections hearts yesterday and he'll not be getting revenge in March. Great race.

I understand why you've said it, however just thinking about some performances his horses have put up in March, they're head and shoulders above what they've done elsewhere...... do we think it's fair to say that can't happen for Energumene?
They'll have learnt as much yesterday as they can and would you put it past them to find any improvement?

What price Energumene to never win a G1 ?

Broke Energumene's heart? Never be the same again?

Nuance is not something a blurt can understand.
Blurting out opinions on a regular basis is all well and good, but all it means is most of the time they are likely irrational and stupid to some onlookers.
However, even a blurt is entitled to an opinion, and voicing it on here.
