  • Am I the only one who thinks regardless of result they'll meet again in the CC anyway? No way Hendo sends Shishkin anywhere else, and with CPS' status uncertain and with Allaho why would The Weirdo go elsewhere?

No, I think most side with this. If there was a scenario where they didn't then my money would be on Energumene not getting on the boat in March. Lobos has been wedded to the idea that Allaho goes CC for a while and he's not going to let go of it when he's come this far!

Goes to the Game Spirit with Greaneteen going to the DRF.

Serves me right for taking about an hour to write this post

          • Can't wait to see them both in action against a horse rated similar. I think it's going to be a lot closer than what some think here. If Shishkin hits a flat spot Energumene will be gone. Tactics will also be interesting and could be the difference.

            • Short vid update from Nicky: "Ascot should suit him - he jumped five fences this morning and seemed in great form..."

I let that one go quite a while back......keep up ! I don't care what happens with Energumene. All I know is he'll get found out on Saturday and that Shishkin will go 4/9 for March.

                  • We need to see how Shiskhin acts in his very regular although very short flat spot, up against a quality opponent. I would go so far to say that Shiskhin has only ever once beaten a quality 'field' - in his Supreme year. A tactical and slow run affair will tell us little. If Energemene has stamina then you'd expect him to try and make capital out of that.

                    • Who has Energumene beat ? Very little I reckon. Shishkin by a country mile was the best Hurdler of the two. Energumene massively inferior over the smaller obstacles. Yes, he's improved enormously over fences but he still doesn't have the class and flat speed that Shishkin oozes. For me Shishkin is the better '2 mile' chaser of the two as well. His speed over a fence and how low and accurate he is gives him a huge advantage as no energy is wasted in the air and landing. He's a sensational chaser. That's me done.

Wish I could have your confidence Lobos, he's a very nice winner for me and had the arkle/champ chase bet since 23rd nov 2020 so hoping he passes this next test with flying colours

Energumene has beat what's been put in front of him, also raced only once over hurdles (won) . 'Massively inferior' abit in harsh in that context. Hehe

Both very good horses for me.
