  • Given Bob O has always been spoke about as having speed, I don't think it would be too surprising if he never turns into a GC horse. Nothing wrong with that either, Allaho is still one of the best 5 horses in training and sticks to the middle distance

    • BROWN ADVISORY

      I have written a ratings review of the last 10 years on the Turners, and what the 1st three home in those races, achieved before they ran in those races.

      Then compared to what the current Brown Advisory entrants have achieved.

      Its in my Diary in the Members section

      • Threeunderthrufive Brown Advisory Novices' Chase, 14-1

        He's won four of his five races over fences and I do think we've placed him well to do that. We're going to take on Bravemansgame with him as the owners are keen to do so and want to maintain the partnership with Adrian Heskin riding. If I'd have been given a free hand I might have considered the National Hunt Chase for him because I'm competitive and want to win as many races as I can, so it's better in that respect not to have two good bullets to fire in the same race. It's a step up in class for him going for the Brown Advisory, but he's done nothing wrong, has won at the course and I think he should run well again.

          Hurts when the trainer spells out in his own quote all the reasons you were going to type yourself as to why its a bad idea! On the plus side, he doesn't stand a hope in hell so one less horse to worry about. Silly from the McNeils

            • ….for anybody interested, Sky put the following up yesterday in their ante-post doubles section;

              Beacon Edge win today & place RSA 18-1; win RSA 66-1

              Its unchanged despite a couple of non-runners.

              • BIG UPDATE

                Willie Mullins: “Galopin Des Champs could go in either the Turners or Brown Advisory, I want to talk to Paul [Townend]. I’d be happy enough I think with the Turners. I think he has the ability to do that.”

                    Well to be fair to him Benjy, as far as I know he’s never said one or the other all season, has he?

                        yeah you could spin that quote whatever way you like without knowing exactly how he said it... "I'd be happy enough with the Turners" isn't exactly a ringing endorsement that he's adamant it would be the best option.

                        Trying to ignore the noise and heartache until something more concrete appears, which is probably decs

                          He's just thinking out loud and naming the only two races he can go to. Does it every year. It's certainly not a big update - that was sold in a Daily Mail esque fashion

                            I think that’s a little harsh on the op. To my knowledge this is the first time we’ve heard from the trainer naming the turners in any context so I’d say it’s an important update. The op wasn’t suggesting this meant GDC is going turners and I think many have reacted as if he/she was.

                              A trainers voice, up until these yard days, are the entries they makes. He put and left GDC in the Turners for a reason, so that is him 'naming' it as an option without being vocal. If we didn't have these yard visits we'd still be sitting here with the entry until final declarations, and the continued debate about his end goal. Willie mentioning the Turners changes nothing, IMO.
