    • Nice enough today for Ahoy backers, had so much left in the tank as he cossed the line, but still have to be concerned that his jumping falls a part a bit if and when he has BMG upsides again (and GDC) in the BANC.

Notice it was Good ground at Weatherby today. i'm sure Lucinda said something earlier in the season before a prior race that they wouldn't run him on anything better than Soft? May have dreamed it but recall at the time thinking I'm sure they would still run him at the festival if it came up GTS or better, but might be a slight negative. Guess todays run dispels those concerns, but wonder why she has changed her tune...?

Commentator said as he crossed the line "and what a nice problem for Lucinda Russell to have in which direction he takes gong forward". Is that based on specific trainer comments on plans?

Some nonsense linked to still being in the Gold Cup,
        I would think.

Both race entries were mentioned post race.

Ah right. Thought the GC idea had been put to bed after his last run...

          Surely not!

Ahoy Senor's Cheltenham Festival target has not yet been confirmed, though Russell said the Brown Advisory would be her preference.

She added: “He’ll just go straight there [to Cheltenham], I don’t know if he’ll go for the Brown Advisory or he’ll go for the Gold Cup.

“I would suspect, if the trainer has her way, he’ll go for the Brown Advisory, but I’ll go speak to the owners, speak to my assistant, Scu (Peter Scudamore), and speak to Derek too and see what he thinks.

“He is a novice and he’s still learning, what you saw at Kempton is that he’s not the finished product. I’d like to think that this time next year we’ll have a really exciting horse – we do already.”

            • What are we hoping to see from GDC today? I'm thinking cruising to a 10 length success won't do us much good with the Turner's talk! Especially if capadano is a staying on 2nd

              • It really doesn't matter how far Galopin wins by today (assuming he does win). IMO Him and Bob are different types of animals. Bob has a turn of foot over shorter, for me Galopin is a relentless galloper, which he can do at speed to cause issues for his rivals, which I'm hoping he does today.

To nail him here, he needs to be a fast finishing 2nd

GDC to piss in and Willie to mention this race specifically post race.

                    • ComplyOrDie Galloping them into the ground at speed over this trip and winning with ease, after Capadano finishing relatively close to Bob, would surely be a huge concern of GDC not stepping up in trip?

I think you're right in what will happen today, just worried about the fallout.

Sounds ideal Can't see any actual likely scenario that's a positive for this race mind.

                      • Galloping the others slowly into submission the longer the race goes on would be ideal. Still think he is BANC bound.

We haven't really seen this horse yet run over fences against decent opposition.

Sorry, by speed, I don't mean break neck speed, but speed for a 3miler. He has a high enough cruising to get many in trouble but it wouldn't trouble Bob because he can go that pace as well as kick on.

I'm not reading too much into the Capodanno form line, tbh.
