  • Nice detailed answer, thank you.
I do see a lot what you say.
Personally I think he’s such a good jumper and I could see GDC out jumping Bob and winning comfortably.
Not even sure it would be that much of a hard race at all.
He can easily step up after that and campaign towards the gold cup from then.
Anyway, it’s all about connections decisions, nowt we can do.
They might think about avoiding Bob,after all he’s a goodun alright , but then again……..

Can't have every single class horse competing against each other, if that happened their wouldn't be a festival.
Only people that want them in the same race are those without juicy AP prices

No problem, I can definitely see your jumping angle, but all we can do is wait and see as you say.

FWIW as you may have gathered from my original post, I wouldn't see them as avoiding each other if they met, I'd see them both as going down their natural paths this year. Next season could be a different matter.

Although I'm in the hope GDC runs in the RSA camp, from my current bets. Significantly.
I think Capo and Stattler would both be good enough to win the RSA, although not as sure as if GDC ran here, and can see JB in the Turners.
They do like to give themselves a fair chance of winning both races when they have an opportunity, they may see this as one.

Agree, I think if they don’t meet it will be because they were never going to.
A statement from the GDC camp would help!! Somehow I don’t think that will happen for a while yet!!!

There is that of course .
Personally I would rather win money on a race like we saw at Ascot Saturday then a virtual walkover.
But of course I understand when one is on a juicy price thinking all is rosy as it could be, and then something you did not expect happens.
I had that a few years ago when I stood to win a lot of money(for me) on Al Ferof in the Ryanair, and along came Vautour and Road to Riches at the last minute!!

I made exactly this point previously...I’m not sure many on here have much appetite for Bob to be beaten. Personally I think GDC would win both races Bob or no Bob (but fully understand folks who believe differently) but that scenario would be a disaster for many of us so I’m not convinced we will get complete objectivity on the subject. I think folks are generally committed financially and emotionally to Bob winning turners and/or GDC winning BANC.

Time and time again I have heard us say Willie will want to keep his best novices apart to maximise his chances of winning as many races as possible.....well apparently there is a sub clause which states (unless by doing so it would increase the possibility of Bob Olinger not winning his stated Cheltenham Festival target and in these circumstances the trainer (Willie Mullins) will agree to avoiding such a scenario by ensuring he does not run his best novice chaser in opposition to him)).

FH winning Arkle, BO winning Turners and GDC winning BANC would be an amazing outcome for me but I am not assuming the three of them are going to be kept apart and am philosophical about the possibility they may not be. I cannot and will not worry about it, I have no control over it and what will be will be.

For all the folks that want them kept separate as I do, I will be keeping my fingers crossed.

Prob one for NRNB given he might not go for anyone interested.

                        • Has the decision been made re. targets do we think? GDC pushed out again to best price 7/4 and capodanno shortened 7s into 11/2

                            It’s only PP though isn’t it ?
Just had a quick look at oddschecker and there are a few who have trimmed him too.
I’d imagine it’s a deliberate marketing thing from PP or possibly some internal accounting correction…

                            • Hope you're right Ista! PP/BF normally the ones first to move when 'confirmed' though isn't it? Seems to plenty of cogs turning there ie. DD being absolute standout for the supreme, that's a massive hint isn't it?

                              • They (PP) have just cut DD for the Ballymore to 4/1 from 6/1, and pushed him out to 4/1 in the Supreme. Looks like GDC has been cut for Turners as well to 5/2 from 3/1, and Bob lengthened slightly to 5/4 from 11/10. Caveat - I’ve no idea from looking at the app when this happened?

Aren’t Paddy one of the first to hear about Mullins’ targets, or is this a rumour? I hasten to say, I’ve no inside info so don’t act based on this post. I’ve got a lot invested in GDC RSA so feeling somewhat concerned…
