  • Bit of substance to GDC's form in that last race at Navan.

    • Does anyone know why all my bets with Gallopin Des Chomps are no longer available to cashout on bet365 and have reduced in value on Paddypower?

Heavy rumours GDC goes to turner's. Don't see it myself but what do I know?

        • Are these new rumours or just road to Cheltenham angle, bits of money on oddschecker, but no slide on rsa.

          • As Bob has been confirmed for Turner's then GDC will be staying put.

Agreed, only way i see gdc coming here is if Bob doesn't turn up.

Not sure the two were ever linked were they?

I think it was mooted by road to Cheltenham and Kevin Blake. It was all very strange to me

Not anywhere significant anyway Benjy, well not what I have seen.
Plenty on here seem to think that though.
I would love to see them clash, be another race to relish in a festival that’s really shaping up to be something special.

Save it for next years gold cup hey so we can all win some money this year.

Can't have every single class horse competing against each other, if that happened their wouldn't be a festival.

As a sporting spectacle I'd love to see it, but as a race planning exercise it doesn't make sense for GDC. The big clash would probably have been AI/Ferny with Bob but unfortunately injury has (likely) stopped that from happening.

We are talking about two novice chases. If GDC takes on Bob, it will still leave the RSA as a good race and imo a much more competitive race to get stuck into. And we get to see a real treat.
Anything could happen before next years gold cup.

Why does it not make sense for GDC?

For me, all his improvement came as he stepped up in trip last year so I don't understand why you wouldn't continue that this year. His best performance was over 3m, so I'd run him in the 3m race this year. Running 2m4f as first novice chase is a logical starting point (few horses start over 3m in their novice seasons), then move on to 2m6f at DRF before 3m at Cheltenham. The RSA is also comfortably the better trial for the Gold Cup as well, which appears to be his calling moving forward.

I actually think racing in the Turners would be a tougher race than the RSA for him because Bob is such a speed horse. It's completely possible that GDC could obliterate Bob with his jumping, but if Bob's jumping held up, he'd beat him over 2m4f. I think GDC would walk the race with Bob over 3m (but that one won't happen so why - from a race planning perspective - should it happen over 2m4f which is suboptimal for GDC?)

Again, as a spectacle I think it would be a great watch, I just don't see the logic in it.

                              • Bob was always going for this race wasn't he, they've never really swayed from that. Mullins will have known this, and have a line on him through Capodanno. If GDC was to run here I assume Mullins is confident he beats Bob and Capo, Statler or Jungle are good enough for the RSA...

Although I'm in the hope GDC runs in the RSA camp, from my current bets. Significantly.
