    Surely they won't be able to resist the Festival. They can go to Aintree as his end of season target if they wish. And what happens if they skip the Festival and then he gets a stone bruise or something. They'd kick themselves, and I can't imagine the owners would be too impressed either.

    They've already made a mistake by running at Kempton, when they should have run in The Dipper, and this would be another mistake in my opinion.

    Could you imagine Mullins, or even Henderson, skipping the Festival with him? I'd suggest they need to get some clarity in their thinking. The problem is they're not used to handling a proper Grade 1 novice chaser.
    Agree with every word of this...you get a horse perfect for this race and not run him....might as well pack up training. Be like putting a big notice up for owners.....don't send a good horse to us

    I topped up with the 14s yesterday, which i think is a great price.....still think poss second best horse for this race

    And had enough of this pathetic attitude from British trainers.....no wonder owners don't send them top horses......spend half their lives saying what races they won't be going to

    • My sentiments entirely. A mere few weeks ago they were letting the media know how excited they were. I think the double whammy of beaten by BMG and then seeing GDC rock up at Leopardstown a day or 2 later, has spooked them. As with Nicholls and BMG, what do they plan to do next year, avoid the Gold Cup?

        …..does look like Elliott training Escaria Ten for a tilt at the GN;

        The last of the 40-1 is still there with Sky.

              In an interview before his run at Kempton, she stated Cheltenham was the aim and even Gold Cup was mentioned(nothing of Aintree). I'm just now thinking maybe they think he can't beat Bravemasgame(who is likely to go to Cheltenham) and GDC so will skip Cheltenham and just go to Aintree?

              Cashout is very good on him at the moment and I'd hate to miss out on that if it came out that Ahoy Senor was to be Aintree bound and cash out withdrawn. I'll think it over but leaning towards cashing out as didn't like his jumping at Kempton and don't think he'll beat GDC anyway.
              If they only want to target one of these races it would surely have to be Aintree. They acknowledged that Kempton wasn’t his track and you could argue Cheltenham’s old course won’t be his cup of tea either. Unless his jumping improves I wouldnt fancy watching him jump the 2nd last.

              If he’s fit and well run him in both!!

              • In case anyone is similarly minded, I’ve had Gallyhill added to the RSA market with 365 to assist with cash out. Ironically the same price as before his horrible run earlier this year : 50/1

                      He also tends to nod on landing at least once in his races so the downhill 3rd last, when the pressure is really on, would be my main worry. Yep, it's also lucky for him that the 2nd last is not at the bottom of the hill these days.

                        So, year after if wanted to go for GC, be going with no course / festival experience.....still least they would have lots of Aintree course experience to skip the GC and focus on another timpot G1

                        Be 28-0 at Chelt soon.....but least we will win a few at Aintree

                        i despair

                          33-1 with Sky is a stand-out.
