Having backed BMG makes no difference to my opinion, nor does it to Ahoy Senor Kev. My thoughts on both horses would be exactly the same either way because I don't attach any emotion to bets.

I'll reverse the question on you. If you owned BMG would you want to see him at the Festival based on what you've seen so far? If Ahoy Senor won the RSA, how would you feel if Nicholls had advised you to skip it?

Do you think Ahoy Senor will be a better horse being able to stride on off a stronger pace than Derek Fox made yesterday? Do you think he's likely to jump better over the fences at Cheltenham that are much softer than Kempton? Do you think he's likely to be a better horse on a galloping track than a sharp track like Kempton?

I'd feel like the form has been franked and look forward to winning a King George... but the "if you owned what would you do" kinda questions are a bit pointless, we've literally heard the trainers opinion, and he'll discuss with the owners. For me, that means I'm happy to not be on him, as even if he runs, it's against the trainers wishes and knowing it hasn't been 'the plan' like we KNOW it is for Mullins, Elliott ... then I just don't think March will be where BMG will be winning.

Following that thought, considering Ahoy Senor couldn't beat him, then I just think he won't be winning at Cheltenham. He may be better than BMG or reverse the form on a track that suits more.


Would you think 4/1 for BMG or 10/1 for AS are bets for the race now, ignoring emotion and bets you've already had?

I think as an each way bet Ahoy Senor is probably fair enough at 10/1. That said I think they go straight to the Festival now, so I wouldn't be rushing to back him until closer to the time now.

I wouldn't back BMG at 4/1. You could wait until March and listen to anything more said by connections.

It's also worth seeing what Galopin des Champs does too.

He is a fucking monster, he had to have been impressive jumping wise to match BMG's jumping and he did just that.
