Agree - still think that Vanillier is massively underrated in this race. Just gotta find a way to get him on board!

    • Anyone any idea when we might see GDC? I’d like to see him get in at least two races prior to Nam and arguably another.

Just to let you know Gavin Cromwell said he thinks Vanillier will be more suited by the National Hunt Chase.

I think he's said that about both races - is this the most recent quote that you're aware of or one from a while back? NHC could be a belter if he goes with Fred, On The Ropes and TBO!

I believe it was in the Racing Post stable tour.

If the ground doesn’t soften in the next week or so I reckon beginners at Leopardstown over Xmas Oscar W, same race Allaho deputised over fences 2m5f. He could then run at DRF in graded company. I think appreciate it may be having a similar amount of runs prior to Cheltenham.

Yep. Had it in a double with a horse called Road Game that won a 3rd race at Hawthorne at 9/4 and FD at 20s

After Vaniller's recent win, Cromwell said he's a dour stayer and mentioned the two staying novice chases at Leopardstown and Limerick this Christmas.

Maybe those targets might mean something to somebody on here in terms of race planning as to what might be the festival target?

Personally have him down for NHC rather than BANC at the moment, given the way he was headed in his recent win then outstayed the others

I'd much rather see vanillier in the RSA, let him go from the front like in the AB and try to gallop them into the ground. He's just too classy for the NH. If he wins at Christmas he'll be lining up here.

Thanks both. I agree with Brooksie that I'd rather see him in the BANC, but I'll hold fire on adding him to any further bets. I suspect if he wins at Xmas he will go BANC, if not, the NH becomes favourite - particularly if he runs in a Grade 1 over Xmas. In fact, come to think of it, if he doesn't run in the Grade 1, that could easily be an NH Chase indicator in itself...

There aren't two staying novice chases at Christmas.

                              Limerick Grade 1 - 2M3.5F
                              Leopardstown Grade 1 - 3M

I think its unlikely he runs at Limerick.

That was taken from his quote on the RP analysis after the last win, and it's exactly those two races that he's now entered up for on the horse's entries page on RP.

The Limerick race may not be a staying distance but it has produced winners and placed horses who were good stayers; Sir Des Champs, Colreevy, Bellshill, maybe Janidil this year.

Be interested to know what the pecking order is between Vanillier and Gabynako at Gavin's.
