I think beacon edge could have finished closer in the stayers if the jockey had just sat quiet for a bit longer on him, was never getting to flooring porter but think he tried to challenge too early and just ran out of steam up the hill

I just think the marsh is the perfect trip for him though, but at this moment it looks like he would be facing better opposition in that compared to here.

Very conflicting from Cromwell regarding Vanillier in his stable tour in the RP as he always had preference for the RSA rather than the NH Chase. Not sure what to make of the below now.
Vanillier
6g Martaline - Virgata
Mrs H M Keaveney
2014-31
RPR 151c 153h OR 150h
He won the Florida Pearl on Sunday but we probably didn't learn an awful lot. He put in a sound round of jumping and he'll either go for the 3m Grade 1 at Leopardstown or the 2m4f Grade 1 at Limerick over Christmas. It depends on how safe the ground is at Leopardstown. At the moment I think he'd be more suited by the National Hunt Chase as his Cheltenham target but Christmas should tell us a lot more.

I know it's wrong and I have no proof, but I think they are dangerous to dismiss and might well run big races given the right medicine.
Vanillier & Flooring Porters performances were just so stand out to me - the way they finished their races against the best opposition they'd ever faced just seemed out of kilter from most of the other races we've seen them run.
Pretty much both led throughout and never really came off the bridle and won going away against horses all off the bridle before the last.
Don't stack up for me.

He's a slow old boat on everything else I've seen and I don't think he makes a great cut at his fences either. I'm happy to let him run without backing him.

I can't see a way Vanillier doesn't come back to Cheltenham this season, besides the obvious (injury) of course.
His best performance by an absolute mile was at the festival, he was fairly hit and miss prior to that so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until March regardless of how he runs prior, albeit a 26 length victory is not to be sniffed at despite his nearest rival suffering a fatal fall .
As for which race Vanillier ends up in, of course, is anyones guess right now, but I'd be a little disappointed if the Albert Bartlett winner were not to take part in the BANC.
