One of my horses to watch for the season as well. Unfortunate he met with a slight setback last year so we didn't see him tested once more. Reckon he's very decent.

    • Could be a good chase that one on Saturday if he is declared, would expect Gabynako to go well.

        Mr Incredible dec'd, no Gaby.

Janidil and Tornado Flyer the last two winners, so a decent enough race to use going forward.

        • Imperial Alcazar, remember him? Well he is breaking cover today in a three horse joke race. He is still 50/1 for this on bet365 if you fancy. May come in if he flies. He is expected to win, obv, so very performance dependant.

I took the 50s yesterday as I don’t see it going out much more irrespective of today’s result. I take a slightly stronger view of today’s race though. Yes it’s a joke as any race with a field of 3 is a joke, but the quality is ok. Silver forever is a decent mare coming off a long lay off and could be anything. And the Cob is far from being a mug although he won’t enjoy the good going. A win for IA would be a solid indicator of form in my view and I wouldn’t be surprised to see his odds halved as it would rekindle last years hype.

                    • Hi all - new to the forum but been fantastic to read all your thoughts so far. Hopefully be able to contribute one or two along the way.

I’m surprised that Ontheropes isn’t in this market given his prominence for the Ladbrokes Trophy betting. He looks to be on a steep upward curve to me and if he were to win the Ladbrokes, beating Eklat De Rire, surely he’s interesting for all the open staying chases?

I’ve had a bet on him for the Gold Cup (66s WH) given the similar profile to Total Recall and the fact that I don’t think Willie has the strongest hand there so he could soon spring in the market a little but it would be a big change from his M.O. to run a (second season) novice in such a race.

Welcome to the chicken coop Tigger.

And good point well made about Ontheropes being a possible for this race.

Saxon Warrior pointed out that Willie hasn't sent a second season novice chaser to the NHC in the last decade and, as you say, if Ontheropes wins the Ladbroke you'd imagine there's every chance the maestro will send him here.

Rathvinden broke his novice tag very early in the season rather than year before I think.

I’ll ask for a few firms to price up and see where they land. Don’t usually like to because i think they’re immediately on the defensive but cat may well be out the bag in a couple of weeks regardless

                              Apologies.

But he was a rather special case - pulled up after the 5th on his chasing debut on his only start the previous season.

He ran the season before in december, but was pulled up in a beginners chase. So he was a second season novice.
