Yes it’s a joke as any race with a field of 3 is a joke, but the quality is ok. Silver forever is a decent mare coming off a long lay off and could be anything. And the Cob is far from being a mug although he won’t enjoy the good going. A win for IA would be a solid indicator of form in my view and I wouldn’t be surprised to see his odds halved as it would rekindle last years hype.

Hi all - new to the forum but been fantastic to read all your thoughts so far. Hopefully be able to contribute one or two along the way.
I’m surprised that Ontheropes isn’t in this market given his prominence for the Ladbrokes Trophy betting. He looks to be on a steep upward curve to me and if he were to win the Ladbrokes, beating Eklat De Rire, surely he’s interesting for all the open staying chases?
I’ve had a bet on him for the Gold Cup (66s WH) given the similar profile to Total Recall and the fact that I don’t think Willie has the strongest hand there so he could soon spring in the market a little but it would be a big change from his M.O. to run a (second season) novice in such a race.

And good point well made about Ontheropes being a possible for this race.
Saxon Warrior pointed out that Willie hasn't sent a second season novice chaser to the NHC in the last decade and, as you say, if Ontheropes wins the Ladbroke you'd imagine there's every chance the maestro will send him here.
