Although I respect one side of what Willie says:
'Put horses in the race they are best suited for' (and he seems to think that 2m4f is for GDC)
I can't reconcile that thought with him thinking they went too fast for GDC last time and him thinking GDC is a future Gold Cup horse. Time and time again, those future Gold cup horses go to the RSA, whereas the dubious Cheltenham stayers go to the JLT (including Kemboy, Melon, Asterion Forlonge (who was probably moved to avoid Monkfish) and Tornado Flyer). I'd be worried for GDCs gold cup chances next year if he goes JLT over here but I'm not naive and as an RSA backer am seriously worried about him going JLT instead of here...

He really ought to be going over the Brown trip, 2F less than the Gold Cup this year, if that’s what he’s supposed to be staying next year.
The 2M3.5F trip of the Turners is 7F less than the Gold Cup.
That race will tell them virtually nothing about his Gold Cup prospects, in comparison to the Brown Advisory.
Opportunity missed, or taken, we wait to find out.
I think if he goes to the Turners, then I would be looking to take him on, in next seasons Gold Cup.Last edited by Saxon Warrior; 27 February 2022, 08:13 PM."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Yep - agree with all three of you.
I think he'd win the Turner's as I think his jumping would put Bob in trouble, but if he's a future Gold cup horse it's so much better to lose in the RSA as a novice and maybe a 3m chase in early open age before returning back to the Ryanair (a la allaho) than stepping up after. Time will tell but glad I'm not the only one struggling to reconcile certain aspects of the talk

Looks like the weather in the week before the Festival and the festival week itself is going to be dry. This will have a major impact on where GDC ends up. If the forecast is correct, then I don't see GDC going Turners. He'll take the longer race option instead.

Absolute nonsense to think he’s a future Gold Cup horses, he’s won a Grade 1 over 3M by 12 lengths, and run him at the meeting over 7F less.
To me, it suggests their not that certain he’s a Gold Cup horse.
Their history of taking them from the Turners to the Gold Cup, is littered with non-stayers over 3M2.5F

I tweeted Lucinda Russell about the Brown.Adv being the best prep this year for the Gold Cup next year, and she ‘liked’ my tweet
Not 100% certain, of course."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Nothing has filtered through to the markets yet, but fingers crossed.
