On the day of his Leopardstown win Willie said something along the lines of 'Paul came back in and said the pace got him out of his comfort zone' that was over 2m5 1/2f and the Turners is 2m4 1/2f. Also, visually, for me, Galopin done his best work at the end of the race that day. For me, it makes zero sense in going for the Turners, but obviously Willie knows best.
Seems an odd interview though. Says "can't see him going up to three miles", then with the next breath, says "he could go to either race" albeit that he prefers the Marsh still.
The overall tone is definitely unfortunate, but it really isn't clear.
Edit: WHAT A DAY

I do a lot of my antepost festival bets twar but unfortunately I've gone banc for Galopin des champs, just hoping Paul townsend convinces willie that he's more of a stayer and three miles would suit better !

Mullins has got this one wrong for sure - You don’t run a future Gold Cup horse in a Marsh. Monkfish ran an almost identical race at the DRF and went here, GDC swerving to go to a shorter trip against quicker horses is daft.

I mean, techinically he's not got anything wrong yet. He's not committed to it. Time will tell.
Iv had it in my head the Turners was over 2m5f for months for some reason, had to Google it now and turns out it's just under 2m4f. So after GDC not stopping at the line over 2M5F the last couple of races over fences and his best performance over hurdles being at 3 Mile where he demolished them at punchestown. I too don't understand this decision. Might be my pocket talking, but it seems so so logical to go up in trip over fences with the likelihood it brings out even further improvement like it did with him over hurdles rather than back in trip to face the speedier sorts of Bob Olinger.
Honestly think if he goes in the Turners that Bobs turn of foot will have him beat.

Game of opinions but I disagree. He shows serious zip & jumper ability with the added bonus you know he stays. Monkfish was least impressive in the RSA last yr out of all his races & would have pissed all over CH & FR in the marsh but everyone was dodging EA. They ran Allaho over 3m & got it wrong. I just don’t see how you can say running a horse who is 2/2 over similar trips inc a G1 s getting it wrong. It’s wrong for a lot on here’s ante post tickets, but it doesn’t make it wrong imo. For clarity, I’ve also got a few nice dockets with him over the longer race but after that debut over fences I covered shorter so I’m neutral from that perspective

Who's said he's a future GC horse ?? Just punters and media??
To give Willie credit, he has a line on Bob through Capodanno. He has nothing on BMG. So whilst he says it's not about the opposition, maybe it is. Maybe he thinks Capodanno is a decent beast and nothing more and Bob's 5 or 6 length beating of him isn't up to much.
Have faith all. I remember being sick to death when Mullins declared Allaho for the RSA over the Marsh.
That wasn't until 9th March in 2020....with the festival starting on the 10th.
There was a load of chat around Allaho's destination that year and came down to the wire decision wise, and it will be the same this year with Galopin, so try not to lose your heads and ignore the clickbait sh*te from the likes of Bloggsy and all other twitter berks out there. Remember, no matter how good or bad the quotes are, Mullins bingo is a saying in itself for a very good reason.
He got that one wrong with Allaho, let's hope history doesn't repeat itself.

In this theory he has nothing for the RSA though. I'd always assumed he had more alternatives he could've sent to the Marsh.
Maybe Statler will revert to the RSA rather than the NH Chase now... All change!

Did Willie firmly indicate a preference to run Allaho in the Marsh earlier that year as he has just done with GDC? Genuine question - before my anteposting days.

He gallops at a good pace and keeps going, perfect RSA horse for me. He showed in Punchestown last year he has that perfect blend of speed and stamina and Mullins in the below interview is in awe at how he kept going through the line and Half way round Leopardstown again. Also states his future is 3 miles plus to answer your question Lobos -
Galopin Des Champs, Klassical Dream, Concertista and Redemption Day put down Cheltenham Festival markers for the master trainer at Leopardstown and Limerick....
Game of opinions as you say Splinter but I can see this being Allaho all over again but the other way around.
A line through Master McShee shows Bob Olinger is the better horse at 2m 5F nevermind 2m 3.5F. Not a solid stick to use but an interesting one all the same.
If you dutched (is that the correct term in this case??) GDC for the Marsh and RSA in the Bet365 antepost market, he'd be a 1/4 shot ... for a horse up against either Bob or BMG that is quite ridiculous and shows the mess these Antepost markets get in when they adjust single horses to follow trainer quotes etc.
On the news of GDC being aimed at the Marsh, he should've been pushed out for the RSA.
