  • He should be in the NHC imo. Why do they hate that option?

Yep, as close to free money as it gets.

The Willie Mullins number of winners was priced incorrectly last year and that was a nice starting point for my week! No such luck this year....

Mind you, I'd still not have the balls (or the money) to do it.

It was Willie to have 4 or more winners at 4/6

Was 3 after the bumper..... Allaho brought it home.

                Never in doubt.

                • Ahhh … I thought it was to saddle most winners. Which we had to wait until GDC for.

Yes I agree. Answering questions with a lack of commitment. Clearly they'll see how Ahoy Senor is in the lead up and and assess the opposition, so given they're a relatively small outfit they will have always been keeping their options open.

Bet365 pulling cashout on the back of that story is laughable. They're actually turning into a bit of a joke outfit on this now. Sure pull as quickly as possible on news of an injury or a clear intent that a horse goes elsewhere, but some of the non-stories that have caused them to pull cash out this season is becoming damaging to their reputation with the antepost community.

This isn't really for this thread, but by their own hand they have handed the initiative with this to Paddy Power and Sportsbook, and if they have any sense they'll jump on it and put themselves in poll position ahead of 365 as the antepost go to. I intend to write an article on it post-Festival, and possible do a full podcast on it, because they need calling out.

They don't have to offer it at all, but if they do, they need to offer something that doesn't undermine the confidence of punters. As things stand, unless they come back and publicly adjust their approach, all my turnover is heading away from them, and the only chance they have of picking up my money in the season is if they go no runner no bet before the others. Even then the others offer an extra place antepost on the handicaps, which is usually worth more than a point or two in the price.

                    • I entirely agree Spectre , as I am sure most do. Despite the moral ambiguity of it all (if you offer it, it has to remain until solid news ruling that horse out) what i really struggle to understand is how it even benefits B365 in the long run. They are presently offering 11/2 about Ahoy Senor for the RSA and in reading the article fully, I'd say the horse was still significantly odds on to end up here. Why would B365 not be keen on me cashing out my 25/1 ticket for approximately double my stake? Surely that would be a better outcome for them at this stage given AS's current price with them and others?

It's really frustrating. I have absolutely no problem with them suspending cash out on injured horses, but surely a debatable target is literally the entire point of cash out with a view to antepost betting?! I'm in the same boat as you, will definitely be using Paddy Power more next season.

                        • Spectre/samuel Glad you understood also. Its way out of proportion.

Article took it from the ochecker/richi interview yesterday.

Aintree was option 3. If the brown and gold cup wasn't going to be a thing. The article has scared people un necessarily.

Unless it was a different interview

I’ve said it several times but bookmakers are not there to do punters any favours and, if they’re on the ball, cashout will only be available when it’s it their interests to offer it.
Believe me, every single one of you will lose accounts and potentially the option of cashout, I’d suggest looking at adjusting the way you bet before it hits you because it can’t/shouldn’t be relied upon long term…

The point here though is that 365 aren't doing themselves any favours. They have had a significant edge with antepost cashout this for some considerable time. If you have an account they have been go to, and their antepost turnover will have dwarfed all the other firms.

Now people are losing trust and faith, because previously they were reliable and appeared to treat punters with a degree of respect. That's been blown out of the water this year, and I suspect most antepost punters using them now have them at the bottom of the pile in terms of trust.

All those years to create a position at the top of the bookmaking pile, and they've pretty much ruined that position in a very short period of time, because people are now hanging on to bets they wouldn't have made if they thought that 365 were going to do this.

Of course they're entitled to do as they wish, but by doing so they will lose significant turnover and all the goodwill they've built up. I think we've all said at some point or another 365 are the best bookmaker out there. Not now though, because of the way they've approached the cashout market people have lost trust. Not just for the Festival. Other antepost racing markets will be one's to steer clear of too, as will antepost football, F1, etc, etc.

I think Spectre has covered the first bit so I won't double up...

But the second bit is definitely something I've thought about. Definitely something for another thread but it would be very interesting to hear suggestions on how to adjust if it does happen.
