Great news, what a race it’s going to be!
Bad news for those of us not on him at all Might try and get him onside with a few weeks worth of free bets, but tbh I wouldn't swap GDC for him in the parallel universe where I somehow have a choice! Great race in prospect like you say, weird this game isn't it?! It'd make life/nerves much easier if the horse you're well on gets a decent opportunity to coast round, but still you want to see the big contests, just as it should be!

    • I’m still not sold on him wanting a hard run 3 miles, don’t think Kempton gave any answers towards that.

I always think "Couldnt swap him" when I hear that phrase

One of those meaningless phrase used when filling in time during interviews
"Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Aye, I'd drop him back for turner's I reckon. Have a crack at Bob over fences. Wouldn't rule out a different result based on the limited evidence we have over fences.

Yep, we should all want to see the big contests at the Olympics, whether BMG can provide a contest against what looks to be something pretty special remains to be seen, but at least it helps in the build up. And I must admit I was starting to fear for this race as a competition. Now I have more hope.

I’d still chance him in this race as I’m guessing they’re hoping he’ll become a Gold Cup horse in time, so perfect chance to test him.

He could be great dominating from the front in a Turners, we saw last year just how far ahead Bob was, and as great a jumper as he is he’d really have to make Bobs jumping fall apart to win.

Bob wasn’t flawless jumping on debut, but most horses aren’t. I was happy enough with it for me to not be concerned that it’ll ever hold him back.

Up there with Gordons 'horse of a lifetime' phrase. He must have 6 or 7 lifetimes ahead of him..

145 at his best over fences. Anything within 20lbs of that and I'll be happy. If he can match it I'll be delighted. Anything more and maybe we'll be 'Doing A Naiad'!!!

What’s the plans for him Spectre? 6yo I see.. you won’t want to wait around..? Good luck

                      • I'm happy to take the time needed for him to show himself to be a good horse. He'll tell us what level he can be, and then we can decide how to campaign him OTL.

This season is a stepping-stone to novice chasing next season. He's settling into his new routine at the moment, and I expect he'll have two or three novice hurdle runs before the end of the season. Anything he does in those I'll regard as a bonus.

                        • Lucinda Russell stable update in the Weekender again mentions that Ahoy Senor will be aimed at Cheltenham or Aintree with Aintree being tempting after last year's G1 win.

In an interview before his run at Kempton, she stated Cheltenham was the aim and even Gold Cup was mentioned(nothing of Aintree). I'm just now thinking maybe they think he can't beat Bravemasgame(who is likely to go to Cheltenham) and GDC so will skip Cheltenham and just go to Aintree?

Cashout is very good on him at the moment and I'd hate to miss out on that if it came out that Ahoy Senor was to be Aintree bound and cash out withdrawn. I'll think it over but leaning towards cashing out as didn't like his jumping at Kempton and don't think he'll beat GDC anyway.

                            Definitely food for thought.

                            • It's very possible, but I think I'd be far more annoyed if I'd cashed out and he ran.

Surely they won't be able to resist the Festival. They can go to Aintree as his end of season target if they wish. And what happens if they skip the Festival and then he gets a stone bruise or something. They'd kick themselves, and I can't imagine the owners would be too impressed either.

They've already made a mistake by running at Kempton, when they should have run in The Dipper, and this would be another mistake in my opinion.

Could you imagine Mullins, or even Henderson, skipping the Festival with him? I'd suggest they need to get some clarity in their thinking. The problem is they're not used to handling a proper Grade 1 novice chaser.

It's the racing equivalent of a mid table club putting a youth team out in the FA Cup so they focus all their attention on finishing 12th again
