It’s not though. BMG was half the price of GDM before he’d jumped a fence despite, at that point, Willie having all but name checked this race for GDM. BMG’s price has always been affected by Nicholl’s Denman comments after the ‘20 Challow.

In his Racing Post Stable Tour, Willie Mullins said about GDM “I’ll be looking forward to tackling middle distances over fences”. I would have thought that means The Marsh not BANC. Is there a different quote which implies he may go the the BANC?

Hopefully starting off in the same race Monkfish won last year. Interpret that how you like but I think the aim will be BANC.

Sorry. I was talking about a time before either had jumped a fence i.e. before NH season began. After the Ballymore, Willie said GDM wanted further and a fence.

His quote in the ATR tour gives hope that GDM may go to the BANC…

“He is a lovely-looking horse that looks a real chaser. He has strengthened up very well over the summer and we are looking forward to sending him novice chasing this season. He had a very good jumping technique over hurdles and hopefully he can translate that to fences. I’d say he’ll want at least two-and-a-half miles over fences.”

“at least 2 miles 4”. Hopefully they’ll step him up for the BANC

Assuming Bob heads for the Marsh there's every chance he scares a few off, could see plenty of novices taking in the Plate this season...

I've seen a lot of people on here discussing which one of gdc or gdm will go here, but why can't they both?

mullins might have ferny for the marsh, and maybe something from blue lord, saint roi, haut en coleurs etc to go along with him, so he could easily go with two here couldn't he?

I have backed both gdc and gdm for this so would need more than happy with that scenario.

I can understand taking that position if forming a book but I can't be alone in thinking GDC is head and shoulders above GDM am I ?
The quality of that Punchestown field he demolished and over 3m was incredible, have to say I've never thought GDC going anywhere other than here...

I like them both but I wouldnt think either one is head and shoulders above the other at this stage.

They both performed well at the festival and while gdc was impressive at punchestown I always take punchestown form with a grain of salt, who knows how many of that field were feeling the effects of a long season at that point.

I also wouldn't take that run as a guarantee that he is a strong stayer at 3m as 3m at punchestown seems to be easier than at cheltenham. Anyone who saw faugheen romping home over 3m at punchestown a few years ago would have had no worries about stamina for him, but yet in the stayers he was spent before the last hurdle.

And I know that gdm has yet to prove he stays 3m strongly either, so it would be a toss up for me atm, who knows who will jump a fence better either.

GDM actually ran to a better RPR than GDC at Cheltenham in defeat to Bob, and we know that form is mustard. No doubt GDC was very very impressive LTO, but it's hard to know if he was bossing tired horses, or is just a complete tool - maybe both. I suspect GDC is probably number 1, but to call him head and shoulders above GDM is premature IMO. GDM lost on debut, then won everything barring his clash with BO. He beat Mr Incredible and Gentlemansgame with ease and both have shown themselves as useful chasers since. If I could only have one bet now I'd back GDM at 25/1 vs 5/1 on GDC. I think GDM's Ballymore run can he marked up slightly as he did a lot wrong and stayed on well. He'll love 3 miles.

I would personally have gdc as the better horse at the moment and will be very interested to see if things pan out that way but think both are going to be very good. At prices now i would say gdm would appeal much more of the two.

GDM smashed all the same horses at Leopardstown over 2m6. It was easily his best performance of the season.

He beat GG by 5l with Stattler a short head further back earning an RPR of 151.
GDC beat GG 12l with Stattler 1.25l further back in third earning an RPR of 161.
I must be missing something here if people have them closely matched...
