  • 9 of the last 10 had won over at least 2m 4f previously... Think that suggests it's not as simple as picking the fastest 2 miler.

Yep. An absolutely fascinating contest for me and one in which I'm very happy to take on the fav. There is no way he should be odds on and I think he'll drift right out before the off. He'll be friendless on the course,as friendless as he is on here. We can't all be wrong

Fair point! Funnily enough 3SL is the one I've been hoping would run here all season, but think he might be more likely to place than win. Might do the forecast.

          Ok then.
          Let's put it another way.
Which horse ? that's set to run in the ballymore, do you think could win a Champion Hurdle next year ?
If anyone had to choose one.
Every single person would pick the same horse.

The best 2 milers usually go for the Supreme, it's circumstances this season that means one of them is going a bit further.
If they'd gone another half mile at Leopardstown the last day, they would not have got to him.

          • I expect Sir Gerhard will go off around 8/13.
Race looks there for the taking.
He’s got by far the best piece of form, of course over 2 miles.
But ground shouldn’t make it an extreme test.
He was pulling away the last day, beating the horse (TSS) who may well be his biggest danger again here.
And who I’d argue would be best over 2 miles in a Supreme himself. Next up you have JWM who should really be going 3 miles.

In fact I think plenty in the race probably aren’t running over their ideal trip. He’s just imo by some way the best novice in the field.

There are stronger odds on fancies through the week.
And not all the shorties win.
can see why you’d want to be against him.
But I can’t see him beat

I'm not sure many would pick SG as a Churdle horse based on what he's done this season. Looking back at the DRF race it wasn't a great bunch that he beat was it ? I think that's why they've thrown him in here in the hope that he might just have enough class to get home but I'm not convinced.

By sending Dysart to the Supreme I think we know what horse will be going down the CH route for Mullins next year.

Dysart will be going chasing. Willie has reiterated on numerous occasions that he's a chaser, and once he's been dicked by Constitution Hill we know he'll be going for the Turners, too.

                That solves that

                  The point is.
no one in their right minds would pick any of the others.

                  • Sir G would obviously be the pick of this lot for next year's champion hurdle. Particularly when he's outstayed here

Ballymore not the Champion Hurdle trial it once was imo. Far more winners and placed horses are two and a half or three miles now imo

You sound like someone who would have thought Appreciate It would be done for speed in last years Supreme.

                      • It just wins. Think Willie sending him here is a Pointer that he thinks it will stay. An extra few furlongs on goodish ground is hardly extreme. Most experts say the speedier horse wins the ballymore

Isn't this the opposite of what I'm saying? And basically what you're saying. Appreciate It had won three 2 mile hurdle races, and never ran over further over hurdles. Sounds like the sort you'd be backing in the Ballymore and I would in the Supreme, pal.

Hope you didn't do too much antepost last year's Ballymore

Agree. No one would pick anyone so I don't think we get your point Q?

                              Not the opposite, No.
You backed Ballyandy didn't you ?
