  • I’ve caved in and backed Journey With Me here at 7/1 but still desperately want him in the potato race and any defection would wipe out a mountain of multis.
    2pts ew as a small cover…

I’m hovering too. Thing is, I’m just not sure if fancy him
      here.

I’m in the same boat, I can’t say I fancy him for the race but applying simple logic, if connections believe he can win the Ballymore then I have to respect that, they know plenty more than me, assuming that’s the call they make if course.
I’d prefer to have the NRNB insurance but have 7/1 without…

        • Alan King in his weekender blog mentions North Lodge to go Kelso, skip Cheltenham and go to Aintree as his plan for the horse.

Thanks. Any excuse given as he's won what supposed to be the course trial, even if it was only comprised of UK trained horses, the race itself being a grade 2.

He was never more than Luke warm in the race. He is only a 5 year old (and an April foal) and a very inexperienced one at that. The last 5 year old to win was the new one who was having his 9th career start in this. North lodge has only had two lifetime starts. Totally understandable call imo.

More that he wont be experienced and wants to mind the horse for the future.

                • Josh Stacey just tweeted…

Interesting new recruit for Nicky Henderson. Balkeo, shown below finishing 2nd in France, has been entered in the 2m Novices’ Hurdle at Sandown on Saturday.

Bought by the Donnellys and will wear the colours of Shishkin. He also holds a Ballymore entry

Some big NRNB prices available….and huge exchange too

                    • Journey With Me will ‘likely’ run in the 2m3f Novice Hurdle at Naas (Feb 12) rather than the Dublin Racing Festival.

“I see him more of a Ballymore horse at this stage. He wouldn’t have the pace of Bob Olinger but he’s very exciting”, says Henry de Bromhead to @RacingTV

cash out for the Bartlett suspended. FFS.

Ah okay, backed for the Bartlett as saw some comments from the racing manager or someone of that description from what I read on here!

Can't say we weren't given a heads up.

Bay of Freedom highlighted the Naas race for him on here 2 weeks ago. Was always going to happen in view of the potential value to connections of winning the final at Punchestown.

An owners perspective is so informative as it takes away the 'pocket talk' element of us punters.

How he performs in that Naas race though will determine where he goes. It's still not a done deal.

I was definitely worried by the naas race as I mentioned on ab thread a week or so ago and greatful that the race was highlighted here. Was hoping to wait until decs to take action, unfortunately that option has been taken away from me. (My bad, noone else's)

That said, of all the situations that could have occurred. JWM down to Bally, GJ replacing him in Bartlett is the least likely of all. I had JWM missing festival completely as much more likely (with GJ (Bally) and GC (AB) flying the flag). I also don't see why JWM couldn't go Bartlett then drop back to the naas race.

Fortunately for me, yesterday I found a decent looking TMSG, JWM (Bally) double that I didn't think I had, but the plan they've stated still makes no sense to me based on everything we've heard and seen.

                              • Still can all change. It depends how the horses perform in their respective races. If Grand Jury doesn't quite stay at the weekend and Journey With Me looks workmanlike over 2m3 then it could be game on again
