  • I have no insight apart from that Declan P info the other month but the way cash outs are suspended this season I have decided to cash my 25/1 for the AB for nice profit and back JWM 11/2 win only for the AB and a bit for the Ballymore 5/1 both NRNB.

I seriously can’t be arsed sweating on targets as any chat for Ballymore I’d have lost the bet365 AB cash out.

I did something similar yesterday, reduced my potential profit for AB slightly by cashing a bet each for Hollow games and JWM at the bigger prices for nice profit and used the returns to cover JWM in the Ballymore.

Like you, I cant be arsed sweating about it either and don't want another DD situation on my hands scrambling to cover with roll ups etc.

Feel much more relaxed about it now having it covered.

Glad to hear it wasn’t just me cashing out early, if they change mind and go Clonmel then he should be AB but it’s all talk of the auction race over much shorter so it’s not worth keeping me up through the night thinking haha

Im holding fire until we know he isn't going to clonmel or drf. If I lose cashout I'll have to suck it up and maybe lay on exchanges, but not going to either of those races is my trigger to take at least some evasive action.

Fwiw - like many, I still think the ab is the right race for him based on all known information

          • I feel its worth bringing up the messages I received from Brian Acheson again - if JWM doesn't run next week the Naas the following week is the intention. Didnt get any more than that but I'm sure someone on here will have an idea of which race they have in mind.

Yep that info is at the forefront of my worries. The race is 2m3.5f, it's a qualifier for the 2m4.5f final at the Punchestown Festival which last year was worth 'only' 10-15k less than the Bartlett.

              • What do we think of 10/1 Mighty Potter NRNB? I'm on the verge of hitting the button. Think if he runs there he goes off shorter than that doesn't he...

Might as well wait till he's declared or not in Dublin.
If he wins that race then you'd fancy supreme, if he's beat - depending on how badly, his price could drift for both.
I doubt he'd be cut in price for the ballymore for a defeat over 2 miles, not by much anyway.
I suppose a close defeat and Elliott stating straight after the race Ballymore is worst case scenario.

100% no brainer. Gordon said he’s going straight to the Festival and alluded to him potentially stepping up as TSL appears to be his guaranteed 2m horse.

Yep, if he lines up in the Ballymore he’s shorter than 10 imo.

Following on from this, The Nice Guy is current favourite for the same race tomorrow. He's entered in everything but starting over 2m3 and the strength of the race already, you'd think the Supreme unlikely. I've covered him NRNB for the Ballymore and Bartlett. Best price 33s (Sky) and 20s (Sky & Hills) respectively.

This lad has come onto my radar too having read the blogs etc. Was very interested in PTs comments:

He looks a smart horse. He was very good in his bumper in Leopardstown over Christmas and could easily have stayed in bumpers and not gone hurdling yet. But he is a seven-year-old now and it’s time to kick on. I certainly wasn’t complaining when that decision was made because I think he is a good recruit to our novice hurdle team.

I’ve taken the 28-33s for the Ballymore as he’d have a very unusual profile for the spud race - if he wins well he’d have a Fiveforthree type profile who won the Ballymore for Willie off one run earlier in the same calendar yr (showing my age there lol)

                          • The Nice Guy to come here? Looked to quicken away well at the finish although impossible to know how Ramillies would have fared. The Nice Guy has jumped pretty neatly all the way round and Ramillies not so much so definitely have the latter going to the bartlett if he's ok after that bad mistake

                            • Very promising that from The Nice Guy. Very happy with Ballymore position. I know Mullins said potato race but wouldn’t fancy him in that at all, looks to have gears along with stamina & would like to see him in this. Let’s see, lovely start of sticks though

Why wouldn't you fancy him at all in the Albert Bartlett?

Saying he has gears and stamina isn't a negative for his chances there.... it just sounds like you backed him for this race and the trainer disagrees
