  • The above from Gavin Lynch but it’s a very lazy selection to say follow Bobs footsteps because same race but had been entered over plenty in the last month, connections to me are being forced to run because lack of a run and not to follow Bob Olinger route.

He will be Albert Bartlett unless shows gears on quick ground tomorrow I’m sure and if I’m proven wrong will hold my hands up.

      Thanks moose,
You can always tell it's lazy when the only similarities they write are the colours and the distance and that's all they have.

      • I like Gavin but his articles are just the same ones each week, back a horse running that weekend before they shorten, not rocket science and not worth a weekly article behind a paywall in my view.

                    • A tasty 2m4f maiden hurdle: Journey With Me will run as long as the ground is safe: he has landed a point and bumper with the minimum of fuss and this race does represent his stiffest task to date. A powerful galloper, he will be ridden prominently, and by the second last if the opposition are at close quarters, we will learn if he can dig in and respond if challenged. He is a three miler of the Denman mould, one capable of drawing the sting out of his rivals once he gets into a grinding rhythm. It is important to have Rachael in the plate for his hurdles debut and the decision to saddle him up here rather than wait for a 2m6f or 3 miler over Christmas was down to jockey availability plus uncertainty regarding weather.
There are at least three decent opponents in this race who will develop into 130+ jumpers: Fantasio D’alene is a second season novice and possesses smart hurdles form: he split Vanillier and Stattler at Naas last November in a hot maiden hurdle: he fell here recently on his seasonal reappearance and if none the worse for that tumble he rates the benchmark.
Minella Cocooner was detailed in the dossier and ran a fair second at Cork on his hurdles debut 34 days ago: bound to strip fitter and his performance in this race will be a fair guide to the range of his ability.
Mr Saxobeat(another dossier ex-pointer) recorded a smooth bumper win at Galway in July: I will stick to my conclusion in the essay that he might prefer summer racing on proper good ground.
Monk Street and 185k store Stone Mad are others to eyeball for the future.
Down the line, the 3-mile novice Grade 2 hurdle at Clonmel in February looks tailormade for Journey With Me irrespective of outcome this time.

                        • The most anticipated run of the season I'd say in respect of the Novice Hurdlers. Hopefully I'll be able to catch it prior to football and then we can have another 19 more pages deciding where he'll end up !
