  • Just talked myself into backing him.
Thanks for the heads up BookieBasher , I wouldn't have looked if you hadn't highlighted the price move...

If you and JackieMoon33 are backing him then I'm joining in

      • I’m all over Gerri Colombe for this, surprised 40/1 has lasted this long and 33/1 is still lingering.

I’ve been looking for the 2022 Bob Olinger for a while now, hopefully found it…

          • Posted this in my diary but it's always a good sign when Jamies likes one (Gerri Colombe):

"A horse who I included last year after he beat me (on Lakota Warrior) in his P2P and he was mightily impressive in winning his two bumpers. He does nothing flashy at home, but that is what you want, a hrose who does all of his talking when he gets to the track. The second day in Naas, they went no gallop so he had to do all of his own donkey work, but he absolutely bolted-in in the end and I'm really looking forward to seeing him over hurdles. He's a very, very nice horse and when he steps up to 2m4f you will see the best of him."

This fella looks special. Having been purchased for ?240,000 by Robcour at the Festival Sale, he absolutely bolted up on his Rules debut to win by 24 lengths.

He then defied a penalty to score cosily at Naas and he falls into the ‘could be anything’ bracket. Jamie Codd was certainly impressed at how he put the race to bed that day!

Soft ground and a step up in trip should eek out further improvement. He could follow in the footsteps of fellow Robcour star Bob Olinger by taking the Lawlor’s of Naas en route to Cheltenham.
I don’t have 888 and only found this from a random google search, but the fact Elliott namechecks Bob Olinger and suggests the same route to the Ballymore I’m surprised this wasn’t picked up sooner by members (apologies if it was and I’ve missed it).
Equally surprising is the fact he is still a price after those comments, I guess the presence of the Mullins horses at the head of the market has kept a few at their inflated price…

That sound more like someone's opinion than what Gordon said

Yes don’t believe the 888 tour is based on any interviews with Gordon or anybody else in the yard. Still the market move would be a bit encouraging.

                  • I'm in as well at 33's with Gerri Colombe. I managed to get on at 25's with Bob Ollinger last year so got a bit lucky.

                      • Gerri Colombe will have to defy the stats Spectre put up if he is to win the Ballymore. Only the mighty Faugheen has started out over further than 2 miles and won the Ballymore. Gerri Colombe is entered up over 2m 3f at the weekend.

Is that right? That's some stat!!

The race has been going since 1971 - I'd have guessed there'd have been a load during that period

Not sure how far back Spectre’s stats go but Danoli made his hurdle debut over 2m 3f I think…

So did Barton, but you have to go back a fair way…

So you’re telling me there’s still a chance?
