  • Satisfactory start from Three Stripe life and it should rule out the AB from his potential options.

    • B365 33-1 into 28-1, which is fair enough.

          Not impressed by him.
Hate his breeding. So haven't backed him to date.
Was hovering in case price held after race, but not bothered.
Price really ought not to change much, maybe 25-1 instead of 33-1 ?
Satisfactory but like a lot of these early season races, it was likely full of a load of muck in behind. Price looks to have held reasonably well so people can at least take a view of his performance today before backing.

What's up with his breeding? Leading Light is new to the NH ranks so hard to make a judgement yet surely?

          • Glad I held off on Three Stripe Life.

For all that he won, it wasn't a great looking race anyway and he's not won it like a horse that I would be falling over myself to back.

OK, is how I would describe that performance.

              He was ok, nothing more.
Clearly still quite a raw horse. I feel like we're still waiting for the penny to drop with the horse.
Bet365 have trimmed him to 28/1. That's probably about right.
More interested to hear the view from Davy and Elliott post race over what the race actually offered in truth.

Strike rate from 70+ runs over hurdles ain't great. About 10%
Compared to Nathaniel for example 70+ at about 50%. Whose offspring I have a soft spot for.

It also depends on what quality of mare they've received too. From what I've read, Leading Light progeny are late developers which is why you won't see them in 4yo PTPs.

Nathaniel must be a "top shagger" then.
Looks like Leading Light is being received by some back alley stuff.

Leading Light is getting Readers Wives.

                        • Gordon Elliott - Three Stripe Life at Fairyhouse
"Davy (Russell) said that ground is as quick as he'd want it so a bit of easier ground will suit him. You'd imagine the Royal Bond is where he'll be going. He'll learn plenty there, he ran off the bend and everything, he was green.”

Going for the Royal Bond does not help with regards to the target as horses end up over various trips from there. Gordon has won the last two and ended up with a Ballymore winner and a Supreme second.

As he's his Royal Bond horse he must think a lot of him. I'd imagine he might have needed today more than most if that is his target. Left a fair bit to work on.
