Not a chance! If they are good enough then the owners will want to have runners at the Festival (unless they have a particular liking for Fairyhouse). Willie also has the options to go the handicap route with some of them too.

Big chance I'd say especially with the prize money on offer at Fairyhouse. Some could take in both but that is bound to take the edge off them

Willies best horses are aimed at Cheltenham and Punchestown. He’s not holding back anything decent for Fairyhouse that would be competitive at Cheltenham. If they’re held back for Fairyhouse then they’re simply not good enough. The only exception are Mares due to the programme.

        • Whatdeawant - a horse I had down for the Albert Bartlett, has been mentioned in the Mullins stable tour as a horse that may well go here due to the owners sponsoring the race. This was pointed out to me on the AB thread (forgot who but thank you) but with an actual race mentioned as a potential I thought I'd share.

As with what I've already said, he was out of the screen when he raced Kilcruit and absolutely flashed home for an unlikely third. He seemed to pick up a lot and I don't think it was because the first two were easing down. He's definitely worth keeping an eye on and the fact that Willie Mullins hasn't shut the owners down with Ballymore talk is a positive as I am sure they'd rather be placed into races they can get some prize money from rather than entering because its a race they sponsor...winning some prize money in a race they sponsor would be nice for them though.

            • Im suprised that alot of people on here still beleive that if a horse is more of a stayer then they head here over the supreme..ive always beleived that wierd logic of speedy horses go here and the horses that stay go to the supreme ruby said as much on road to cheltenham a couple of times so im suprised that people thought kilcruit would go here..im we all covered this sort of topic last year aswell

Sectional’s do show that most of the time the finish of the Ballymore is quicker than that of the supreme and that they go much faster earlier on in the supreme. You need to be a strong stayer with pace to win the supreme with the amount of energy used so early on in the race

                • The Supreme is invariably a strongly run race - a combination of a (usually) bigger field and perhaps the adrenaline of the first race of the meeting. The Ballymore can often have a smaller field (and less depth) and a more sedate early pace and it is under these circumstances that they finish faster than the Supreme. However, it is far from a given. In the last 5 years I have Shishkin, Klassical Dream and Labaik all faster in absolute terms from 2 out than their Ballymore counterparts (Envoi, City Island, Willougby Court), Conversely Bob Olinger and Samcro were quicker than Appreciate It and Summerville Boy.

Winging The Last is bang on that you need to be a strong stayer at the trip with pace - but you can not forsake the pace element.

The way some people talk about the Supreme you'd think you could put Don Poli in it, try to steal 5 lengths at the start and walk home

                      Exactly Robith.

Maybe Stayers Hurdle horses should run in the Champion Hurdle instead, and vice-versa.

                      • Supreme you need high cruising speed this allows the horse to go the early gallop in its comfort zone while not wasting energy, horses out of their comfort zone will waste energy and not get up the hill

Ballymore you don't need that cruising speed but need to be able to stay strongly and have a turn of foot to outpace your slower rivals like envoi, samcro, Bob etc

Thats how id view it anyway

Depends how fast he can jump a fence

If he's not the quickest jumper he may be better suited by the marsh
