Thinking from an owner perspective, if I've got two horses and it's not going to be heavily detrimental to either of them, why not have them in different races? For what it's worth, this angle is much more appropriate for GC Ballymore and JWM Bartlett than it is for GC Supreme and JWM Ballymore. Completely removing the bets we have on the horses, if you're an owner and you've got two horses that could have win/place chances in several races which may or may not be the case here, would you want to keep them both in the same race or split them? I'd split them hands down.

Fair point that I hadn't considered given I'm an ultra small stakes bettor probably compared to some of you guys.

Its a great concession to have but I'd personally use it to get out of bad bets, rather than to 'trade' based on price contraction alone.

If they had equal chances in another race yes, of course you'd split them. If they were both ideally suited to one distance then no, I'd rather have two good bites of the cherry and double my chances of a festival winner. The trainers would do all they can to put them in the correct race as well and we know who comes out on top generally trainer v owner.

That's a fair rebuttal. Will be interesting to see who ends up where

I think this season trainers will make multiple entries so we won't know for sure until very late. Injuries and ground conditions could change plans at the last minute which is why I've backed several for different races.

Looks like he's been backed in with PP for Supreme as well (now 16's). Clearly on back of comments from Patrick .

                    • Might I an impressive 2m2.5f maiden hurdle winner at Newton Abbot on Thurs, I Like To Move It a 2m Class 2 hurdle winner at Cheltenham on Sat and Gelino Bello a 2&1/2m maiden hurdle winner at Aintree today have all advertised the form of Sam Thomas's highly regarded Newbury bumper winner (under a penalty) Good Risk At All. He must be among the leading British candidates coming from that sphere to this.

Looks a pretty straight forward race for him as well to open his account. Should be long odds on there, based on his reputation

Yes would be expecting him to win based on opposition. Interesting they said 2m4 in the ATR stable tour, but he takes up his 3rd of 3 entries over 2m whilst there has been a few 2m4 maidens in the timeframe since he was first entered for a race. Shows you can’t always get too caught up on what these stable tours say I suppose. Ultimately tho Bob o started over 2 miles before going the Ballymore and I still think 2 and a half will probably be the right trip for Guily Billy this season when he’s entered in some proper races.

                            • I know he’s not Irish so won’t be too popular, but the 66/1 for Mr Glass with Unibet (or 50s with BF/PP with cash out) might look good after the first at Chepstow today - especially if looking to cover a few in the race.

With Nicholls record at Chepstow (and the current price) I’d be hopeful of a good showing today

                              • It doesnt matter, If he wins well today and the interviewer says what about the ballymore? Nicholls will say his favourite line these days “cheltenham isnt everything”
