BRAESIDE
Weight: 10st 5lb.
The intention is to run him as well if he gets in. He will run in the National Hunt Chase and then go to the National. He made a mistake in Thyestes and a bit like Death Duty that just put him out of the race a little bit. He has been really good since then. He has already won the Cork National on heavy ground and he stays very well but he ran well in the Paddy Power at Leopardstown on good ground. He is a smart horse apart from what happened the last day.

RUN WILD FRED
Weight: 11st 1lb.
That looks a lovely weight for him. He could go for something like the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham but I think he could be a National horse after that. He was second in last year’s Irish Grand National and he ticks a lot of boxes. He is a very consistent character. Taking in the Irish National is a good route to go before having a crack at the Grand National. He is a big staying chaser and I think he could easily be a Grand National horse. He has that touch of class about him as well.

Also agree with Benjy23 that there's some political terminology going on with the two possible runners!

Run Wild Fred would have a better chance of winning GN than Braeside as well. Classier, higher weighted horses have been far more successful in recent years following modifications of the course. Braeside on 10st 5lb is not guaranteed to even get in the race. I don't think Codd has been booked Sunday in view of riding Braeside at Aintree as Jamie just doesn't have rides in the Grand National does he ?

Worth remembering that Michael O’Leary tells Gordon where his horses are running when it comes to the likes of the Grand National so you can read trainer quotes until your blue in the face and it won’t tell you too much.
Gordon wanted to run him in the KM last season and MOL told him Irish Nash..
You’d have though Rob James or Lisa would have been riding him on Sunday if they were riding him in this - Not like he’s a sneaky one that they fancy so keep the amateur off it.Last edited by KevMc; 18 February 2022, 11:31 PM.

Fury Road and Farouk look value to me at NRNB prices
Prob only one will run....think Farouk may go Browns
Similarly rate to RWF and 2-3 times the price...Fury should be close to 2nd fav....he has beaten Vanillier and did beat RWF
If you want cover for RWF not going, then Fury Road looks a play....can't see him being 8-1 on dayFat Jockey Patron (est. Jan 2021)

I put Fury Road in as the best NRNB price for this race for a while... with the 8L beating of RWF being key.... he was 8/1.
Since then he got walloped at the DRF, and is still 8/1 NRNB.
On a going day, he'd be mustard.
