If they then stop cashout when they put him back in the market, that's a different matter...
When preview night's start doing the rounds they'll be greying out bets left right and centre the way they've behaved this year.

Yeah, like don't get me wrong, it's shit compared to previous years and some of the things they grey out/stop cashout for are farcical, but if a horse is removed from the market it's categorically the least bad option for me because it means they aren't taking bets when they are refusing to offer cashout on them.

        Capodanno example today
        1. Left him in market but turned off cash out
        2. Then removed from NHC market
        3. Then re-added to NHC with cash out still off

Yeah, points 1 and 3 are a pile of crap. Particularly point 3. Shame.

Raised this on my Twitter account if others want to add a list of horses greyed out yet they are taking bets.

Capodanno. - NHC, Sir Gerhard - Supreme, Galvin - Grand National & Envoi Allen Ryanair to name a few.

You can add Kilcruit, GDC, Whatdeawant, Ginto (AB), Hollow Games (Ballymore), I am Maximus to that list. May be more.

That’s a joke that, rant over on here to keep thread on topic but us punters hardly got an edge these days.

                • Anyone who started betting before the internet (and with only audio coverage in betting shops) will find the fuss about this sort of thing overblown. You have to get your head round the fact that things like NRNB, cash out, best price guarantee etc are bonuses that can be withdrawn at any time. In the eyes of the bookies they are marketing tools pure and simple and are best ignored when deciding whether or not a horse is a 'value' bet.

Many people look on betting as a war and brag about getting one over on the bookies. They should not be surprised when bookies retaliate and/or use the nuclear option.

Agree mostly, although the prices are probably relative to the 'bonuses' as you refer to them.
Bit like getting a bonus from your employer at the same time of getting your main salary cut.

Bet365 have just got smarter I reckon, and we've always known it's not guaranteed.
Just seems frustrating when they grey something for a variety of reasons and it doesn't come back. Even when the dust settles.

But they are clearly intent on avoiding the profiteering when news is leaked or announced and they aren't prepared.
It was in the punters favour in this regard for a few years.

Cash Out was and is designed to work for both parties in any case, it is not simply a tool for the punter, it can also be an effective tool for mitigation for the bookies as well.
Otherwise they could simply only ever offer the money back as an option. It's all carrot dangling and options, but they seem to be taking a lot of them away in these markets this year.

This current 'issue' looks to be more like an administration thing.
If it's policy then this may end up a good year for them but they may find next year is not as good in terms of turnover.

                      • Somebody who works in the gambling industry told me that if cashout were a sport it would be bookies 3rd most profitable market after racing & football. Unsure if that’s true or not. But 9/10 you’re losing value cashing out.

They didn’t introduce it for punters benefit, that’s for sure. Purely there to entice you to cash out & save them.

Yeah bet365 generally the best to give them their due. Sky one of worst.

I'm sure I've read an article before that essentially said they want you to cash out because typically people do and put it into the slots which is a big winner for them

100%, cashout is never value unless you are ahead of bookie with injury news...
