could be a very shrewd bet that mate.

    • I liked that form threeunderthrufive for this. But those comments from the McNeill family clearly direct him to the RSA and I just don’t see him having the cruising speed or turn of foot to beat GDC in an RSA.

You would have thought Nicholls would tell the McNeill's that he wont beat GDC and he wouldnt beat BGM so if they want a Cheltenham winner the best place is the NHC

        • Max reiterated that the RSA was the plan still on twitter for Threeunderthrufive if anyone is still holding onto any bets.

          • He’s clearly a very good staying novice chaser. Wherever he goes he had a chance of placing. My opinion at the start of the season was a NH chase candidate, can’t se him winning either, but going for FNH will enhance the mighty field claims in NH chase

I can't see him winning the former rsa but would give him a shout in the longer race.

              • Thing is if that horse went the NHC on his form then they could easy temp a top Irish amateur, Codd won on Le Breuil for example.

Heskin gave him a good ride yesterday.
Which enhances his claims to keep the ride.

Be tricky for Codd especially this year as if he wants RWF he may have to wait, and lose other rides in the meantime.
Unless O'Leary makes a decision after Dublin, as they seem intent on another outing , probably in the Irish Gold Cup, given the recent entries in the UK & IRE GC.

                  • If Monkfish was enough to scare ND off then I see no reason why GDC, who looks even better, wouldn’t do the same with TUTF

As much as Gordon would want it there is no guarantee Codd will be offered the ride on RWF
He has never ridden the horse before
He is not the Gigginstown go to jockey in bumpers over the last couple of years
I think Lisa O Neill has rode in this in the past for Gigi

Jockeys were not an issue last year.
That seems to be the reason.

                          Yeah I know.
She may well get the ride.
Not sure it matters if he's rode him before as most amateurs haven't or won't have.
They've not had many bumper horses either in comparison to when they were purchasing so many.

The owners of TUTF are surely too influential in the game not to secure a decent jockey

It's the loyalty to the current rider that owners struggle with, and this appears to be the case in this instance.

                              • The jockey loyalty has often been a factor in this race and smaller outfits, or certain types of owners (less ruthless) tend to stay loyal to the jockey that's worked and won on the horse for them.
That's why it's been a good race in the past for antepost as you can narrow them down more.
Obviously smaller stables can often be ruled out as their choice of amateur is restricted usually.
Don't always play out as you expect though
Heskin could get injured or a ban.
