Race is 2m 7f 40 yards so just short by 70 yards. Any reason why races being run at 2m7f aren't being extended to increase the number of qualifying races in Ireland?

You'd think it would be welcomed by the trainers.

Racecourse configuration would be my guess.
Racecourses were designed long before qualification rules were introduced for specific races, though your point is valid and I’m sure where possible changes to race distances are being/have been considered…

      • Measurement of distance is not an exact science in Ireland (or at Haydock Park!) and the best you'll get at some tracks is 'about 3 miles'. It's just a rounding process at 2m 7.5f and above.

What a KNOB - "no way he runs in this?" - on what basis its there "no way".

No point being strident on something, that patently stupid.

              • Willie in his latest Sportinglife column: I was very happy with En Beton on Friday. For a horse having his first run over fences he looked like a handicapper going around Punchestown. The style of win suggests he could be a candidate for the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Yes absolutely right… he was talking about fury road only running if RWF was to miss this race.. which he said was unlikely

                      I’m okay with him FOT2.

If he was talking about RWF, then it’s nonsense,

If he wasn’t then the programme cut was to blame,

He also said Fil Dor has a Grade 1 in the bag, which I reminded him it was a Grade 2, for which he thanked me, in a cordial exchange.

                          • What's the usual Handicap tax the Irish get when travelling over?

Surely after last year it would be atleast 5lb? Braeside is currently 143, Will Hill have priced him up for the Kim Muir but surely he will be too high to get in there and this has to be the destination.

Is this an example of Bookies tricking punters or is there another chance that without another run he could end up there?

Would a run over 2m7f qualify him?

I don't think he's priced up yet anyway

                              Interesting comments!

Not a race I'd expect Willie to scatter gun...

Not yet qualified as needs to be 2m7.5f. Will be interesting to see if he lines up in one of the 3m Irish races left - I believe there are 2 remaining and we could still see Willie try and get Capodanno and/or Stattler qualified.
